Google maps.

I have made my own map on Google maps to an address in London using a chosen route that I favour. I have saved it to my maps folder.

When I access it on my Android mobile I can find the saved map info (My Places>My Maps>Driving directions to xxxx) but cannot seem to get it to navigate using the route I have set, it seems to only want to go by the route it wants to. I need it to show the driving instructions in Navigation.

Hoping what I trying to do is clear to someone

Any thoughts please?

Have you tried setting waypoints along the route you want to go?
Basically by setting destinations along the route it will force Navigation to follow your directions closer.

Has anyone noticed Google maps now seems to alter the directions it gives depending on the time of day and traffic conditions?
I knew the route I wanted to go last night to an address and wondered why the hell it was taking me the long way round. I ignored it only to find that a few roads had been closed and traffic was chocabloc, had to go the long way anyway.

Yeah that is a really handy feature. Google are really not grasping this PR thing

Its been like that for a while, at least 6 months. It does make planning the route in advance a bit tricker but you can always add way points if you want to use a specific route.

I have a problem with my Gmaps navigation (Not a life threatening one!) I can't change the voice. I've tried everything. I did have it using IVona voices, but, since one of the updates it's just the google male (can't change it) talking and he only gives basic instructions not the detailed ones that were on it.....
Any ideas from the power users.......?

My only problem with all phone based navigation is that my heated front windscreen blocks GPS signals. I have to use the car's built in SatNav, that doesn't have traffic information

Mine receives SatNav signals perfectly through the heated windscreen.....Possible something else is the culprit??

heated front windscreen won't be blocking your gps signals.

Well, it works in a Renault Master van, but always shows 'poor GPS' in the Mazda 3. I can't think what else is blocking the signal.

I'm open to ideas as the lack of traffic warnings has caught me out a few times.

I have had the same heated front windscreen, and it hasn't blocked signal to either iPhone 4 or S3.

Odd, I have a Desire and Wildfire S and they both work fine when using a car mount stuck to a heated screen. Have you tried the mount near the edge of windscreen near drivers door ?

No, I've only tried it attached by a clip to the central air vent. I'll try the vent near the door to see if that's better. It might get more signal through the side window (although that's more of a stretch for the USB power lead!)
