As I'm still quite new to all these DS shenanigans, I wasnt actually sure if there was some sort of consensus about who usually does the threads for new NEW episodes, and if there is than I apologise (and we can always get the two threads combined). However, until then, as I was quite close to here with all my series 6.2 reviews anyways, and it's now only 5 days till Christmas (IT'S CHRISTMAS!!! Does everyone feel Christmass-y yet?) I thought I'd make this thread on the upcoming Dr Who Christmas Special so everyone can comment their thoughts on in it before, during and after The Snowmen.
Personally, I'm really excited. I'll be sad that Amy+Rory have gone, and fear my favourite team/era in the shows history may be over. But JLC does look wonderful, especially after what we saw of her in Asylum of the Daleks, and I hope theres a good explanation of how she can be a different person here. As fir the rest of the cast, we have the wonderful Richard E Grant who I always thought should have played the 9th Doctor (perhaps then we'd probably have 9 coming back next year) and, who I thought I heard in the trailer but didnt realise it was actually him till now, Sir Ian McKellen! GANDALF! I also like Strax etc, though didnt he die?
Finally, I also like the stuff that seems to be going on with the Doctor who seems much darker and more morbid as a character after Amy and Rory left. He's now a retired Doctor! I really like the stuff we've seen of him in the previews and trailers (though I hope his mourning doesent go on for to long as it did with Rose, this episode should really about him accepting their gone and moving on, NOT this series half), AND, there's a new TARDIS. Though I really liked the last one (my favourite) I must say this new one looks wonderful and much more gloomy, as well as being quite reminiscent of older TARDISes which is appropiate for next year being the 50th.
All in all, I think it looks really good, better than last years christmas special anyway. It looks good, and I cant wait for Christmas (if the world ends tommorrow I will be PISSED off, not only cos I'll never see The Snowmen, but I'm not seeing the Hobbit till after Christmas. No, if it turns out the Mayans were right, I hope their wrong by at least, ooh, a week?
