Poor Nelly Furtado :(
Not only has her latest album The Spirit Indestructible flopped but apparently she's had to scale back her tour
![]() I still love her Loose album but i feel she'll never be able to get back to that same stage ![]() This performance makes me even more sad because this was SO great http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=6tiBu-cnpMo |

Loose is one of my favourite albums. She peaked with that though and didn't really bring anything new to the table with her last album

She should've released her next English album in 2009 imo. Especially following on from Broken Strings, it could've done better imo.
She always has such amazing songs though. I'm sure she'll get another hit one day. But even if she doesn't, she's had an incredible career, nothing to be ashamed of at all. |

It's crazy how popular she was in 2006/7 she was everywhere! I and most of my friends loved her, especially the big songs like Man Eater & Say It Right. I hope she does a show over here.

I must admit nothing from this album has made me want to buy into her music again, i was a huge fan from her 1st album onwards but i really started losing interest in her after the last track she did with Timbaland (Morning After Night??) and hearing Big Hoops, just put me clean off her music completely, tried listening to the album a few times on spotify, but nothing is standing out for me. It's a shame really as she has made some really spectacular songs in her career.

Yes as has been said, it's a real shame. Nelly is such a talented artist. Still, she shouldn't have waited 6 years to release her next English album. What did she expect? The music climate constantly changes. the fact that her singles have been quite weak this time round doesn't help either.
I'm sure if Nelly was that bothered about being successful, she would have released an English album in 2009 instead. |

This is why i defend rihanna for releasing good music every year. I would hate for her to go away for a few years then come back when she can be arsed or running out of money and the material is crap.
As a fan i prefer artists to make music all the time, the more music the better! I still like nelly and i dont think this is the end of her |

She had a career peak that most people can only dream of....It was literally on the level of Rihanna after Umbrella and Mariah after Emancipation of Mimi......Nelly should have ridden that wave as much as she could like the other two have done, but instead she just disappeared and came back with songs like Parking Lot....really?!
Not sure if she can make it work again...the Loose album was amazing, I don't know, I think the ship has sailed now, and she's not on it. |

quite clearly record label wanted a loose 2.0 but she wanted another unique album ....a spritual album ..... sadly she released loose version 2.0 style songs (Bigger Hoops; Something; Parking Lot)that did not grab attention; spunded like old loose extras ...but gems like 'the most beautiful thing'; 'Believers', 'Thoughts', 'End of The World' showcased better Nelly vocals and a newer sound. She needs to move on to a new album and promote it!

Not really the same. Alexandra hasn't had her defining hit yet, there's still time for her. Leona did with Spirit though. Career peaks like that are very rare and they can really make a career if the opportunity is seized. Just look at Rihanna, she hasn't looked back since Umbrella and now she's arguably the biggest popstar in the world.

One of the things i love about nely is she works to her own schedule and makes the music she wants your acting as though she couldn't have had another Loose it would have been all too easy for her to do it but she didn't and i respect that. TSI is one of the best albums of the year whether it sold tons or not and after all she holds responsibilty for its success or not so im not too bothered as im sure she herself isn't as if she were we would have seen an album far sooner than 2012.

Bitterly disappointed

It is a shame, as I still maintain Maneater one of if not the best pop song of the last decade.

She wanted to make an album she wanted and not one targetted for success and making it when she wanted too. Its disappointing that she has been forced to reduce the tour but im glad she made the album she wanted instead of selling out for more Loose type success.

The album may have not been amazing but it's still better than most the crap released this year. It shouldn't have flopped.
