Heard on the radio this morning that a Middle East potentate has just bought an Airbus 380 (yes, the big one!) for personal use. It has been fitted with a prayer mat system that faces Mecca in which ever direction the plane is flying.

You have to admire somebody who can include those touches in the spec and not worry about the cost!

Surely this is just the same mechanism that super yachts and cruise liners use to keeps satellite dishes pointing in the right direction. Mr Potentate would find it a bit breezy up the kaftan though to sit in a dish strapped to the wing, so perhaps a inboard turntable is best
