What happens to those who don't really celebrate Xmas? Is it okay to wish you and everyone instead a Happier New Year?

Well, its nearly the end of 2004, and what a year its been on our soaps!

Corrie has retained its position as number 1 soap, with Emmerdale following closely behind.

EE has been through the doldrums, but with a positive outlook ahead for 2005 under new producer Kathleen Hutchinson, things look promising, and it looks sure to return to its former standard.

Both Family Affairs and Hollyoaks have gained in audience share over 2004, with old characters axed and a host of fresh faces set to appear in 2005.

And BBC Scotland soap River City continues to attract more viewers north of the border.

So Merry Christmas to all the stars who have worked hard and made our soaps so enjoyable to watch over the past year and all the best for 2005!

And Merry Christmas and Happy New Year to all forum members!

Was thinking last night how fantastic Corrie has been this year (they showed a trailer from the Farewell Karen programme which looks brilliant). Have really enjoyed FA this year too. As for EE, all I can say is get well soon and best wishes for an improvement in 2005
