On ITT yesterday, Zoe said she hoped Dani would get some standing ovulations on Saturday!

Bit personal that, wasn't it?

Check it out on iPlayer. 7.54 in.

I think she was only repeating what Vincent said ages ago. The poor sweety he does suffer from language confusion I dont think she was being personal However, Zoe does need to be careful

It's a running joke - Vincent mispronounced ovation as ovulation a few weeks back.

Vincent understands the joke - he did start this after all.

I'll admit to not watching every edition of ITT, Zoe's too manic for me.

You can excuse Vincent's mangled English, but surely it isn't something out of which to make a running joke?

I mean there's never any "fat" jokes are there?

But there you go, it's telly isn't it?

Do you mean they're picking on Vincent for his mispronunciations ? But they've done it every ITT because it makes for very funny clips on the programme, as well as making Vincent appear endearing. What everyone knows though is that Vincent speaks much better English than they do Italian, and they have said that to him many times - he knows they are not being unkind

What is the best pose or pause for standing ovulations?

Don't really see what the problem is, it was a reference to Vincent saying it by mistake on a previous episode. Did you find it crude or something, Doghouse?

Can't believe you just can't take it as a joke! Just a bit of fun!

Calm down! Standing ovulations are just what the womens do because they love Vinthent so much.

Think Vincent knows perfectly well what he is saying as is in on the 'bad English' joke.

My point was that what was said is now considered acceptable (and I agree Vincent has a much better command of the English language than he let's on about) yet these days any sort of "fat" joke is considered un PC.

Do me a favour chum, spare me the "calm down nonsense" it's a bit juvenile.

Good wind-up this, and not only on Vincent's part...

Vincent started it by saying Ovulations. But would they make fun of Denise when she mispronounces "final" and "jive" as "foinal" and "joive" ?

I suppose not many Italian Licence Fee payers / voters.

Its a bit dissapointing that they seem to get standing ovulations and ovations just for staying on their feet, or falling over in an amusing way.
I would like it if extreme expressions of appreciation were saved for something out of the ordinary.

It's possible Vincent's read the references on here to voting with your ovaries, if you have them that is.

You mean for something which might prompt an, "I'll have what she's having!" response?

I don't think "standing ovulations" is a running joke as such, but Vincent's propensity for malapropisms certainly is (in a nice way, of course). Remember "shaking like a leaflet"?

For goodness sake, there is difference between subtle mispronounciations - pause or pose (as Vincent demonstrated on ITT) - and a clever guy building on his self-created saucy reputation by making a witty word-play jokes. Vincent knows only too well what he's saying and what effect he's going for, usually a laugh.

I think it's a wee bit patronising to assume he's not in on the joke.

A pity he uses Vincent as a stage name. He should use his real name Vincenzo. Much more suitable for the Italian Stallion part he plays.

Vincent's "standing ovulation" was every bit as spontaneous as Bruno calling Brendan "Brenda". i.e. not at all. I liked it but wonder what books Vincent has been reading.
