For a fun show, you don't need quiet, introspective and intelligent females. As a requirement, it would kill the show.

Without a chatty show off like Narinder or dim gobby snouts such as Jade, you have nothing worth watching.

Mel makes me want to hit her hips - with a baseball bat! It is like she has no mojo - no inner animated spark.

This is supposed to be a panto - not a bleeding book review show.

Firstly, you misinterpreted or misquoted me. I said 'intelligent and witty'. I didn't say anything about being quiet and introspective.

Secondly, we all have our own idea of what constitutes fun - loudness coupled with stupidity is not mine. We also all have our own idea of what makes us want to wield the old baseball bat. Jade would be first on my hit list.

Thirdly, I was talking about the selection of HMs for BB proper, rather than the panto.

Goodwill and all that -

I'd like to see all fm's following my lead over the festive period by at least trying to be nice to one another.. that's all.

Kate's impression of old alex still makes me laugh

it was both intelligent & witty, and even a bit left-field

My post was not strictly a reply to yours, hence the reason why I did not quote you directly. It was merely influenced by a specific aspect that I felt a need to respond to generally.

It is perhaps my fault for not more clearly specifying this in my previous post. On the other hand, perhaps the fault is yours for being too hasty or presumptous. But, I have not "misinterpreted or misquoted" you.

And I was not "talking about the selection of HMs for BB proper, rather than the panto".

You see, I was referring to the panto proper, not the selection of HMs for Big Brother the series.

She made domestos boy look like a grumpy old pensioner in comparison.

You might argue that it was amusing, but it couldn't really be described as witty or intelligent. It's what schoolkids do.

OK, thanks for your explanation. It was the fact that your post followed on immediately from mine and referred, loosely, to the points made in my post that led me to believe that it was a response. I'm sure you can see why.

Are you saying only stupid people should be allowed to appear on BB? Why? Are you saying only stupid people should watch BB? Again, Trash, why?

you're right - it was highly amusing, and very witty & intelligent, IMO
Kate's impression of Alex was even better on the BB best bits - I loved the way Kate satirised Alex's nomination of Jonny, with the producer's adding Alex saying "....and I think it's disgusting" - Kate was made to look great & Alex was made to look an idiot

I don't really remember Alex being witty or intelligent - he was merely a puppet for Sandy & Adele

I think you meant to say 'You're wrong - it was highly amusing, and very witty & intelligent', since this is precisely the opposite of the opinion I expressed. I did at least acknowledge that there were some who found Kate's jolly jape amusing though.

Given that you thought Kate was witty and intelligent, I would not expect you to have appreciated Alex's wit. It takes all kinds.

No, what the Trash is saying is - one should disengage from ones highfalutin whilst watching this type of show

why would I say 'you're wrong' when you said yourself, it could be argued as amusing? - you merely questioned whether the impression was 'witty & intelligent'

Alex witty?? - well, apart from a few fans who thought so, the vast majority laughed 'at him' & not 'with him'

it is amusing to see such a clueless individual 'intellectualised'

Your perception of both Alex and Kate differs from mine. I am happy to agree to disagree on both counts. The above comment is also just your perception, rather than a statement of fact.

I am also happy to agree to disagree on both counts.
However, it is not just mere perception to suggest that Alex was not taken seriously by the vast majority of the viewers. The final result proved that.

Wrong there, I'm afraid. It's never been about who takes who seriously, it's about popularity. Or am I very much mistaken? All the final result proves is who is the most popular. Did anyone really take Nadia seriously this year?

That's your interpretation of the final result. The final result proved that Kate and Jonny got more votes than Alex and Jade. We can all speculate as to why, but it is only speculation.

You may be right in general terms, but fans of Alex did take him very seriously, wanted him to win & still wonder why he didn't. Other viewers found him irritating, petty & childish.

That's just the nature of 'fandom' I guess. Plenty of people out there who like Alex but wouldn't describe themselves as 'Fans'. Alex didn't win because ultimately he was less popular with the general public.
