It's weird you should say that, last year at Xmas my brother's girlfriend asked me if I'd heard of it and knew what it was cos her gay friend had been talking about it. I'm not sure why I'm the go-to girl for asking about things like that but okay

i dont think he is in a bubble,i think he was trying to push brendan to relax,dont let this man get to you ,do what you want stop warrying about what he is going to think,put the hut on who care what he think,he was taking the aproach of he cant hurt you,by pushing brendan to do things that he thinks brendan did not want to do because of his father presence and ste is like do it what is he going to do.ste was actively trying to get brendan to be indifference to his dad by acting the same way, i think once he knows the whole story his aproach would be different.

I do agree with you, I do think Ste wants Brendan to relax and realize that his Dad can't hurt him anymore. I do think he's in a bubble to an extent though, just because he is enjoying having Christmas with Brendan and doesn't want Brendan's feelings about his Dad to ruin their X-mas. Also he's wrapped up thinking about his kids and their Christmas and how he's going to incorporate Brendan into their lives. It's not so much that he's oblivious to how much Seamus affects Brendan, because Brendan showed him how much yesterday...I think to be honest a lot of the speculation is seriously just guessing as to why Ste was so weird today. He didn't seem to be taking the whole thing as seriously as you would expect, given the intensity of last night's episode. I would have thought Ste would be giving Seamus evils and suspicious glances across the table through the lunch, but he wasn't...so I don't know what we were supposed to read from it. Maybe it was to show Ste being sucked in a little by Pa? Why would Brendan say that to Mitzeee otherwise? Obviously Brendan thought Ste was being 'sucked in' and he was almost resigned to it. I think the change in Ste will come after he sees something or hears something from Pa. Maybe he'll overhear a conversation between Pa and Brendan that gets his back up.

And the bottom line is Ste doesn't know the full extent of everything does he? He knows he was violent, but so was he himself and he's obviously experienced it first hand from Brendan. When he finds out about the sexual abuse I think we're sure to see incredible scenes, not least kierons beautiful crying face.
