It's a superb scene. The writing, the acting, the story, the direction, the lighting, the music. It tells us so much about Brendan and Seamus and about Brendan and Ste.

The episodes seem to get better each time I watch. They're so detailed. I love that HO gave them so much thought.

Hey everyone

So, just out of curiosity (after reading some of the posts about Stendan love) I got to thinking about why Brendan loves Ste. Why, out of all the guys Brendan seduced, did Ste get under his skin? Was just wondering if anyone had any opinions on this matter? I mean, it goes without saying that Ste is gorgeous, but for a man like Brendan it needed to be someone special who could pull him out of that 'use em and dump em' mentality. So what do you think it was about Ste?

In my opinion I always thought the reason Brendan fell hard for Ste was because he loved the way Ste looked at him. Not in a 'I want to tear your clothes off' way (though I'm sure he liked that too) but he liked the reflection of himself he saw in Ste's eyes. Ste saw him as 'Hero Brendan' and as someone who was essentially capable of doing anything. He liked that Ste saw him as a protector (despite given every reason not to think that) and he loved that even in their darkest moments Ste still saw something in him that nobody else was able to (or wanted to) see. I also think he enjoyed Ste's ability to ramble on about crap, even when Brendan was not giving anything back. It's almost like the progression from finding Ste's constant talking annoying to comforting was slow and he didn't even realize he looked forward to being with him.
I think most of all though that Brendan saw himself in Ste.

that's interesting. for me emmett summed it up perfectly when he said brendan loves the fact ste forces him to face himself and to be honest, maybe it's also the fact he experienced real happiness with ste (even if for briefs moments) and that changed something inside his heart but of course it will be always something we can't explain completely because loves works in mysterious ways

i think its declan age that off,the show aged declan i think because they went with an actor that was much older than Brendan kid was supposed to be. declan really should be 12 going on 13 year not 15.me and my friend back and forth on this for days. Brendan was married for ten years ,he says this on the show and even Cheryl comment on this,so when Brendan came to hollyoaks declan should have been 9 years going on ten ,because Elaine was pregnant at the wedding.few months after Brendan arrival he talks to declan on the phone and the talk about declans up coming birthday which should have been his tenth birth day .since Brendan has been on the show for two and half years declan should be about 12 going on 13.if we consider that Brendan got married as a teenager he would had to be old enough to be married,so maybe 18 that would make Brendan 30 years old which fits with him and Cheryl being two years apart . Cheryl is 27 so that will make Brendan 29 but depending on what months they are born Brendan can turn 30 while Cheryl is still 27.so yeah i always felt declan age is what is out of place it does not fit.

I think it's exactly what Emmett says in my opinion, BH.

Ste challenges him, he's not afraid to say how he feels, he's 100% honest about who he is as a person and he has a raw, vulnerability about him that just makes him even more attractive to him. He also accepts who Brendan is, flaws and all. That's not something Brendan ever thought someone would do

Just jumping in and out to say I just slaved over a summary of my top 15 stendan moments . It's ridiculously long, so might not be worth the read, but I put links to the clips for anyone who's at home tonight, and wants to reminisce!

I loved Emmett's answer to that question. It's so consistent with what's happened between them, because there have been multiple times when Ste has confronted Brendan about his feelings and he continued to do it even when Brendan made him feel humiliated for even suggesting he cared.

Ste was always confident that there was more to Brendan than just a guy who doesn't care about anything or anyone, whilst anyone else would have probably just given up. It was the constant loyalty of Ste (and he was constantly loyal, because even after he betrayed Brendan with the whole 'this love letter is not to you' stuff, he still showed concern for him and was still there for him during the whole Lynsey stuff. He never really gave up on Brendan) that made Brendan fall for him.

I think Brendan was someone who was constantly disappointed by people through his life and yet also constantly disappointed people himself. Ste was almost like a spot of light in what Brendan perceived to be a dark hole of humanity.

You know what's lovely? Ste feels comfortable enough to pretend to push Brendan off the edge, to sneak up on him and make him jump, knowing how unpredictable he can be. He trusts him

He's got courage, our Ste. He knows he can get away with those play-shovey things, but he's also not afraid to dive in when Brendan's crazy and out of control, if that's what he needs to do. I'm thinking of when Brendan was going to go after Simon after they'd been to the police station, and Ste physically restrained him; and then in the end scene of the first main Seamus episode when Brendan could have done anything, Ste still fought him into his arms. He was scared, there was that moment when Brendan shoved him against the wall and Ste looked terrified for a second, but he didn't give up. He's so brave, emotionally and physically, where Brendan's concerned. It's wonderful to watch.
