Steak and Kindney Pie (Yes, I know!)
Have you noticed recently that you can't get the aforementioned delight in any supermarket, other than Pukka Pies???
You used to be able to get fresh and frozen own-brand S+K pies in Tesco, Sainsbury's, ASDA etc.... now.. nothing, nada. Just bloody steak and ale or just steak. (Or Fray Bentos, but don't get me started on that) DAMMIT I WANT STEAK AND KIDNEY PIE!! Sorry. Rant over...... |

People don't eat kidneys much as they used to do they, hence the scarcity of these pies. I know I wouldn't buy one because I don't eat offal !

I love steak and kidney pie, apart from if it is the muck served up from my local fish and chip shop!

In the supermarket today I bought a four pack of Poole's steak and kidney pies and a four pack of Holland's steak and kidney pies.
They also had own brand steak and kidney pies, but I think 8 pies is enough to be going on with.

I prefer them without the kidney - there's always a faint 'pissy' taste to kidney IMO.
Unfashionable as they mey be, I love a Fray Bentos 'Just Steak' pie. The quality of the steak is beyond reproach. (heads down to Tesco...) |
