I've told my mate that Horizon is the better choice for the less serious racer, but he insists on buying Forza 4 for his new Xbox 360.

He hasn't played either so has know idea which is better and I've only played the superb Horizon so my opinion is bias, so those of you that have played both which is best?

Maybe a few opinions on here will help him make the right choice.

I've only played a little bit of Horizon so far (only got it yesterday) but its excellent so far. After playing the the latest NFS, I'm really getting into the free roam racers.

I owned Forza 4 with my old 360 & will buy again as it can picked up for less than 15 from most places. It's more a traditional structured racer with upgrades, career etc & has a more sophisticated design to it than Horizon.

Not really the best comparison but I feel Horizon has more scope to be a fun filled experience than Horizon.

The rally DLC for Horizon looks good and I'll try that later on today.

If price isn't an issue, I'd go for Horizon.

Tesco have it for 25, so both could be picked up for under 40

It depends on his taste I guess but I would say Forza 4 is the overall better game. There's way more content (races, cars, tuning options) it has better handling/physics and the races are more exciting imo, it just has a level of depth and detail that not many games have.

Horizon is a great game though, one of the best simcade racers I've ever played but it offers quite a different experience, the Rally is excellent and if he likes the idea of free roam and a more laid back setting then Horizon may be for him.

He went for Forza 4 in the end, against my advice but it will work out nicely because he can play my Horizon and vice versa. Happy days!
