I was in tesco today and saw this phone and I really want it - or the mini.

I was going to buy it on contract but I told him I need it unlocked since I spend most of my time in Italy and it would be cheaper to buy two than to pay their roaming charges. Anyway he said it's not possible to swap sim cards depending on the country that I'm in.

Is there any way around this, like with other dealers?

Thanks, but O2 just told me I can buy theirs for £29.99 and pay £15 to have it unlocked without waiting to the end of my contract.

The Carphone Warehouse have it on Pay Monthly for £26 and the handset is free and unlocked.

all i'm saying is that it would be strange for a carrier to sell a phone at a subsidised price locked, and then say you can get it unlocked before the end of your contract.

Is completely false. There's loads of offers for the SIII unlocked on contract where the phone is free or under £100, just go through middle-men instead, such as Carphone Warehouse!

well for whatever it's worth, i bought my S3 locked to O2 from CEX (Can't remember how much..).

Got it home and unlocked it myself for free - it's easily done.

Actually I made a mistake it was the note 2 I wanted. Just been and got it at carphone warehouse and I'm very happy

Care to elaborate on your point? You certainly shouldn't be feeling smug since you were wrong whether I meant s3 or note 2.
