Are the professionals so desperate to do lifts that they go mad at the first opportunity?

Since when was swinging from your partner's neck 'dancing'?

How about spending all the hours that learning new lifts take and perfect a really classy routine?

When they have had professional showdance couples on the show they have danced routines like that. Not a fan of that kind of dancing, seems more like acrobatics than dancing but that's the way it's done.

When Hannah Kartunnen returned to the show with her exhibition dance partner to do a demonstration dance it was 100% lifts so that is obviously what passes for this show dance stuff.

I think it depends on how well they are blended into the routine.

Denise's showdance was quite lift heavy but they were brilliantly executed and did fit with the music, theme and style so my overall impression that it was a brilliant showdance notwithstanding that it had more lifts than I would generally like to see.

Dani's on the other hand had a lot of lifts but most were poorly executed and somewhat inelegant - she would have been better not having them.

Louis had a lot of lifts but they were gymnastic in style, it seemed to be more of a gymnastic routine in general than a dance.

I don't really remember Kimberley's that well to be honest, it just didn't capture my attention in either a good or a bad way.

Yes I hate those pro showdances.

They don't have to do it like that though do they?

Tom Chambers and Chris Hollins spring immediately to mind.

I think the OP is right. I truly think Lisa could have won had she made the final, her showdance would have been conventional and fun, which would have been a breath of fresh air among the acrobatics.

Kimberleys dance was like she was dancing in a GA concert. It was not different to anything I've seen before. At least Dani was a bit more adventurous. Denise was brilliant. Louis F-A-B-U-L-O-U and A-M-A-Z-N-G.

I agree. Most of the lifts looked ungainly and not very impressive.

I thought this was a Monty Pythonesque spoof thread.

Marching on the spot while doing "The Wheels On The Bus" and gurning, followed by lifting Robin again.

Judges give all 10s.

We could all have a singalong while we wait for Part II.
