Does he not think the children's charity his single is supporting is worthy of our support then?

Very strange thing for him to say.

The Hillsborough single will be number 1, Arthur should be trying to shift a few more of his own though.

well considering he's sold around 600,000 overall and the justice collective have sold around 100,000 I think he sort of has a right to help another charity single out

He does, but it was #1 last week and still selling very well. Good on James, I say.

He is just trying to say it was his idea when it beats his arse.

Damage limitation.

I guess it's all about the battle for #1 for some.

No, I don't like this. I'd much prefer a "buy both singles" due to them both being for charity.

Why didn't he mention it on Monday or straight after he got number one on Sunday? He's only said it after he knew that the single was way ahead of him in the charts!

Most of the time the management has access to his twitter so maybe he was only allowed to tweet it after a certain time.

I think it's interesting that he tweeted it bang smack in the middle of his Matt-related Twitter rant. Quite calculated, if you ask me.

As has been pointed out already, he wouldn't have tweeted it had it not been clear that it would be number 1 regardless. It's cheap yet effective PR and he was probably advised to do it.

Reminds me of Cowell saying through gritted teeth last year that he was delighted the Military Wives had beaten Little Mix to the No.1.

The idea that Cowell, Syco and James Arthur would rather not have the Christmas No.1 is laughable.

Grow up.

Every James Arthur page, you cant help but slate every single thing about him.

We get it, you dislike him. If that is the case, why don't you restrain yourself from taking any interest in decent threads about him. Or is the jealousy too much for you to control.

Agree, they have to show face Simon Cowell would have thought as the xfactor single is a charity one will help sales(which im pleased the charity is being helped out) but maybe thought the christmas number one is in the bag?, what a shock another charity single is beating them, i would love to know how many sales James would have actually got without it being a charity single..

Don't you think they would have released it this week if they desperately wanted it to be xmas #1?

It has sold 5 x more than the JC. It would have been an easy Christmas #1 if it had been released this week.

In it's 2nd week and sold 490k last week. The Justice collective has sold about 200k this week, with James coming very close. I honestly didn't think he would be a contender this week.

Perhaps but not necessarily. It's sales would have been much lower had it been released this week. Where X Factor winners are concerned, they really do need to strike whilst the iron is hot. Believe it or not, about 90% of people will have forgotten who won the X Factor within one week of the final. That is the main reason that winners' debut album sales do not even begin to match votes. It is imperative that the winner's single is released right after the final.

If the X Factor wants its winners to top the christmas chart they need to move the final back by one week. I suspect that ITV will not let them do that.
