Nothing to do with Brucie's age should he be 25 or the 80 odd years young that he is . . . there is NO excuse for how RUDE he was at the final. When haven't the pro's and other contestants been there to congratulate the contestants after they win? If producers didn't want them on the floor until later then it should have been controlled better by the floor manager. However Brucie as the 'consumate' entertainer we are told he is, should have gone with the flow, not shouted everyone off the floor in a display of bad temper.

Just watching a repeat of Millionaire on Challenge and Chris Tarrant says of working with Brucie "One of the nicest guys in the business" to which Lea Kristensen agrees. They wouldn't have just said that if it wasn't true.

Look, no one in the entertainment industry, slags off a fellow performer in public. It's just not done. You risk offending so many people and as a result, damaging your own career.

None of us know, what privately they think of each other, good or bad.

he only got to be a sir because a few of his fans put a petition out. i think if he'd been well thought of by those in 'high' places he'd have got one sooner. this tells me a lot about what people think of brucie

But if you don't like someone then you tend to give a very non-committal reply not say something what was quoted.

You actually score brownie points for yourself with the public if you praise someone else, even if they are a competitor.

They all know that.

If you're in show biz or any other walk of life where you want to get on, you say what's in your best interests which is not necessarily what you actually think. You don't slag off another performer if you want to work again.

That's why Jimmy Saville got away with it for so long.

To be fair to Bruce, I think the problem was the couple who had won were supposed to dance again and it would have been difficult for Bruce to talk to the winners if they were surrounded by the rest of the celebs on Strictly. That, surrounding and hugging business was supposed to happen AFTER they winners had done their last dance routine for the cameras!!! I think the group of Celebs just got excited!!

Regarding Bruce, I quite like him but I do agree that in Showbusiness everyone is in love with everyone else. How many times have stars been interviewed about work colleagues and they are always fantastic, wonderful people!! I have rarely heard an actor or performer honestly talk about another celeb (well, perhaps it happens when they are DEAD). Look at all the "wonderful friendships" we have seen grow on SCD and I strongly doubt that any of the pro-dancers/celebs ever even see each other after the show is over!!! The Armin comment to Fern Britton was typical Hollywood "You have changed my life"!!! Absolute tosh!! Do you think Phil from This Morning still has weekend visits to see Fern Britton!!!!!! Somehow I doubt it.

Just when I was thinking Denise was the talk of the series, up comes Bruce to make sure he was. Surely those in high positions in the BBC can see what he's doing?

My employment involves me face-to-face the the general public; if I behaved the way he did at the presentation on Saturday evening, I'd be warned as to my future in my job. But as many here have pointed out, this is not a one-off with Bruce.

He cannot be excused for this behaviour due to his age, title or experience. Once he may have been charming, and did a lot for the show. But his time has passed, and for the producers of SCD to regain dignity of the show, Bruce must be retired.

If he was genuinely having a "stroppy rant" I'm sure he would have the common sense not to do that on camera.

This thread isn't criticising Forsyth's age per se but his ability to do his job. He may be "an old pro" but he's simply not good at his job any more, particularly on auto cue, which should be a basic skill in a presenter. He is a very sour note in what would otherwise be an exceptional programme.

Something that we learned from the awful Savile debacle is that "old pros" command far more power at the BBC than perhaps they should. I'm not comparing Bruce with Savile on a personal level (perish the thought - I'm sure Brucie is a very nice man) but my point is that there's a certain generation of male presenters that no-one will say "no" to. Something has got to give.

Sue Barker is not doing too bad and is well in her fifties. Sure there are others, look at the success that Mary Berry has had recently.

Sue Barker is looking decidedly "matronly" these days, I think her days are numbered on prime time TV.
