Too true, WOW what a hunk.

And that showdance was spectacularly beautiful, and very different.

Victoria might have won if she wasn't such a poor dancer.

Strange then, that the judges said the opposite - that there wasn't a lot of gymnastics and there was lots of dancing

Me too. I never realised gymnasts have rumba and AT steps in their routines

It's strange, I was looking at Louis' dance and thinking "That's odd. It isn't fast paced and action packed like James & Denise".

The more I thought about it though, the more it seemed to remind me of the short clips of ballet that you see on the telly. The movements being very controlled, precise and well timed.

Bit in bold - I don't agree, I think it's rather rude to demean any of the finalists efforts like that, I don't think Louis should have won, but i would never say he didn't try or didn't work hard, as that's simply not true.

Aprt from that, I do agree that he had an easy ride to the title because it's Olympic year. As long as he could dance fairly competently the title was his, particularly given VP stayed in so long without being able to dance at all. Thankfully Louis was much better than her.

Sorry you dont agree on the try hard enough, but I just think that he always knew he would win because of his Olympian standing, they did have an easy ride, and it was obvious that no relly good other male celebrity was placed in the show this year, and they resorted to certain tactics in the final that really sealed his win!

I dont think he was always on to win - severe sour grapes you have!

He had ballet training when young.

Two Olympians in Dancing on Ice, Gymnastics and Boxing - will be interesting to see how they get on.

Erm - from what I can recall, Louis & Flavia put AT & Rhumba in their showdance (as well as the gymnastics & lifts, & it they were recognisable as those dances). Denise & James shoved a bit of Tango & a salsa step in theirs (didn't catch the salsa as was so fleeting, Tango was there) but predominantly it was a showcase of how many lifts they could do in sequence.

Personally I don't think it was a foregone conclusion an olympian was going to win, I've only warmed to Louis in the last couple of weeks, & Victoria (bless her heart) was not very good.

I had Ballroom & Latin training (with awards as well) - doesn't make me an expert

More nonsense.
I don't consider that I have ever been beaten in an argument with you... Just get bored trying to debate with someone whose only argument is based on "I'm a pro dancer so all my opinions are fact"
You started by saying that Louis didn't try as hard, and when challenged to provide evidence, fail to provide any.

I've tried debating with you before, but you end up whining that I'm picking on you.
So I avoid getting drawn into a pointless argument where you won't entertain any other view but your own blinkered one.

You might say you are passionate, i find your posting style abrasive.

I won't waste further time on you.

Shame on the producers for not having the precognition to know that none of the other male celebs would be relly(sic) good.

Louis was great last night. I loved the show dance...strength and beauty and very brave from Flavia. Not everyone will 'get' that dance...it will divide opinion.

Just before he came on I said to the Mrs "this is likely to be a circus act" and yep they came out looking like and danced as if they were in cirque du soleil..

I have liked Louis from the Olympics as I happened to be watching the gymnastics when he was performing and his humility after losing out touched me. Sadly His frame reminds me of a cartoon character from the Incredibles so I am a tad surprised women find that attractive but heyho not my problem hence IMHO Louis was a solid 3rd on the night.

Dani lost her way and was right to be 4th.

Denise's show dance was the best dance I have seen since Jill's jive. Kimberley's Tango was superb too and splitting them would have been very very difficult

I liked the show dance and am happy with Louis winning, as I didn't have a strong favourite this year. However, at the start of Strictly, several of my friends, who do not usually watch the programme, did say they would watch this year because of his presence - I.e. a good looking, successful Olympian. As casual viewers, I doubt very much that they would have voted though. Even so, I think he must have had some advantage.

Another advantage he had, as a gymnast, over Victoria Pendleton say, was good core strength, foot pressure and balance. (When I started dancing I found it difficult to maintain ballroom hold for even a few minutes, and to find my centre of gravity. It took me a long time to improve in that area and I still have some problems with the latter.). I think a lot of focus has been on the other celebs' dance experience and Louis's advantages have been somewhat underplayed.

I think Louis did work hard, Isledance, as I think he has that built in work ethic and perfectionism. However, he didn't appear to fall in love with dancing and was quite honest about the Olympics being a more important event in his life (understandably). So I guess he came across as more laid back, but he seems a nice enough guy.
