L&F showdance - did they miss a lift or fall over ?

Was it me or did something look odd before the first big lift.

Seemed to me they missed the lift or fell over just after Louis got off the big globey thing.

If they did, they recovered so well as the rest looked faultless. If it was choreographed it looked a bit jarring.

I meant to rewind my PVR to check, but forgot as TBH the rest of the routine blew me away.

Hope he does that with Ola on the tour.

I think it was meant to be like that - it's a relatively common contemporary dance move, the sort-of semi-roll-collapse-to-the floor-type thing.

I didn't vote for Louis at all but no way would he have made a mistake like that ie a roll. As you said, I mean. ( Agreeing).

I assumed from the scores it was supposed to look like that, but just seemed like they pulled out of a lift.

Compared to the grace and power of the rest of it, that one move jarred a bit for me,

It could have gone really wrong. A fine line between really artistic, memorable and uniique, or totally arty-farty, bacofoil, skin-crawling pretentious rubbish. Thank goodness it was the first! That 'lift' was meant to be like that (i.e. choreographed to be so), I reckon.

Didn't they show the same move, jump & fall, in the pre dance VT?

Yeah. It wasn't a fall, it was choreographed. It was in the training VT.

I assume it was supposed to look like that, but it did look like a mistake to me. I'm not familiar with lyrical/contemporary dance though, I was looking for ballroom & Latin.

To be fair though, there were parts that looked like mistakes in every single showdance!

I definitely saw a near miss from Pasha in the Kim's showdance. Other that that, that supposed lift from Louis was shown even the training VT as well.

I wondered about that too. It looked like a mistake but if it looked like that in the VT then fair enough.

You saw them rehearsing that move in training, they did it exactly the same way tonight.
