OK he is 84 and set in his ways a bit but for gods sake give this guy a break

He is one of the UK's all time all round Entertainers and deserves some respect

He should show us some respect and retire instead of further tarnishing his diminishing reputation.

Unfortunately, he's the one with no respect as witnessed by his crass behaviour tonight.

Senility, is no excuse for bad manners.

You wait three months for the finale of a show and Bruce tramples all over it. The last moments of Strictly are meant to be a celebration, not a chance for some grouch to tell everyone off so he can dither on into the camera.

Can no one see that he was trying to just stick to the procedure that was meant to be followed and agreed in the rehearsals etc......

There was no harm meant I'm sure

He was trying to clear everyone away so he could read what was on the auto-cue over the camera.

If he were younger, he would have adapted, let the enthusiasm die down, gone with flow and then did his piece, if it took longer to finish the show so what?

I actually agree with you but all I am saying its just the way the OLd Pros do things etc...Not really a age thing....If Bruce was 64 he would still have done the same,.,,,Its the way they were brought up

If he were younger he'd been taken to the producers office and told to act professionally or risk being fired, but oh no just cos he's eighty blooming four he is allowed to get away with ruining the BBC's best entertainment show can you imagine ant n dec doing that on I'm a celeb? No

I dont like him at all. I use to like him but not anymore. I wondered what the hell he was doing tonight and everyone I was watching with thought the same thing. Time to step down while he still has a smidge of dignity left.

It wasn't just the ending he destroyed - frankly, the beginning of the show was appalling too. I just cannot see how the BBC justifies paying a six figure sum from license fees for this embarrassing display week after week on prime time tv. Mostly, I watch on iplayer in order to fast forward through the lame jokes mistimed and doddering over the autocue. Tonight I wanted to watch the entire final but cringing over Bruce's ineptitude really takes the edge off.

There are polite ways of doing that, he wasn't polite. He could have ignored the earpiece and used a bit of common sense. Plus it then seemed completely pointless as the camera was on him and Tess, not the winners, so it looked even more rude.

If he gave respect to the contestants then I'm sure people on here would be happy to give it back, but I'm not going to make excuses for shockingly rude behaviour. I wouldn't talk to someone I disliked like that, let alone people without whom he wouldn't have a job on this show because there'd be no show!

He spoilt the last few minutes of the best series of SCD so far. He just wasn't able to go with the flow and adapt. He isn't going to get any better.

lol - as I said on the Ola topless thread, how can you say that Brucie deserves respect and then start a thread talking about Ola topless? Your definition of respect is driven by your need to wind people up. I'm out of this one Tommy boy

I agree with everything you say Tom, both you & Sir Bruce deserve respect, there is no need for unpleasantness on Final night from Strictly fans we should all get on

I agree that many have been rude and heartless towards Bruce tonight with many un-called for comments.

But Bruce could of politely ask people to hang back for a minute, instead of aggressively shouting “back off” to everyone and moaning on camera that he has to do it every year. He seemed to lose the plot this evening. I get that he may have been doing as asked, but you don't start being rude and aggressive.

Yes, but whether he is 84 or 48 made no difference to the rudeness he displayed at the end of the show.

Missed the glitter ball ceremony but think Brucie clearing the floor has become a humorous part of the final that some folks take seriously because that’s what they want to do.

He brought the show to a standstill but not in a good way. It was awkward and pointless.
