Why should there be a Scottish contestant?

If they had to fulfil a quota to cater to every possible sensitivity then they might as well not bother. Can you imagine what it would be like trying to hire contestants if there was a requirement for there to be at least one Scot, one Welsh contestant, one gay/lesbian contestant, one Muslim, one Catholic etc etc.

I think they have enough complication in deciding on the contestants. Would there be about 40 % from the South East with that logic, then a quota from Lancashire, Yorkshire, East Anglia etc with Wales obviously as well.

Should there be quota system with the professionals also.

I can just imagine the post independence Scottish version. Filmed in a typical corrugated iron hall with just one person playing accordion and someone moaning about there being no one from Shetland.
