It would be two so so presenters if it were to be Vernon with his wife, not thanks. I like Anton and would be happy with him presenting SCD but I think it would be great with Chris Evans or Ken Bruce

Personally, I'd cancel the show for good if these were the only two options. Second raters.

It has to be Norton, Clary or Walsh.

Clary might need a time delay as he can be risque

My vote goes to Chris Hollins

If you don't mind folks I'll opt for some reality.

A piddling little poll with a few saddoes voting means nothing.

ps..............I'm one of the saddoes if you feel like being offended.

What, make SCD even more bland than it already is? Can't abide Hollins.

He seems like a personable bloke

Possibly, but that's hardly a ringing endorsement for a big personality to take over the BBC's flagship entertainment show. He's as bland as yogurt.

Absolutely. And he would give the show a much needed shot in the arm.

Graham Norton is so camp that he would be absolutely perfect for SCD.

That's like the worst Snog, Marry, Avoid ever. Norton and Clary are too camp for a show that already includes Bruno, Craig, fake tan, pink shirts and sequins; it needs someone to play it comparatively straight and let the inherent campness of the show speak for itself, not turn it into Carry On Up The Glitterball, while Walsh - assuming you mean Bradley not Louis - is one of those people who others seem to rate but the appeal of whom completely passes me by. I always think he should be in EastEnders (and that's not a compliment).

That really made me giggle.

Oh, let's not "count the gays lest we have too many" for Christ sake. Should we count the blacks next?

Again, fair point, but I don't really think of people as gay or straight. I went for Norton or Clary because for me they are extremely funny, quick off the mark and professional to their fingertips and I think they would work well with the SCD format. I like Walsh (yes, Bradley!) because he's multi-faceted, but Norton would be my first choice. SCD needs a really big personality which Brucie, love him or loathe him, is. I'd like to see it taken in a slightly different direction when Bruce goes and this is going to take someone extremely skilled and there just aren't that many first tier hosts about.

love this post!

I would vote for Anton because he knows the whole show inside out and has danced ballroom on it - can't say anything about his Latin lol!

He would be the only person I could imagine taking over and presenting the show.

Chris Hollins...hmmmm he presents the RAH Dance Proms each year and is pretty poor at it even though he's a lovely guy.

Vernon would be ghastly - I can't bear him - so far up his own arse!

no....for the show I love, has to be Anton.

hmm not very manly and makes a bit of a hash of presenting anything for me!

Gethin has been suggested - he isn't very good at presenting because, like Chris Hollins, he is a lovely guy, but no personality comes across in his presenting, and to present this show, I think you need it in a rather exaggerated way.

There is a difference between "gay" and "camp", and if you read my post properly you'll see not one single reference to the former. Not all gay people are camp and vice versa. I couldn't give a flying one about people's sexual orientation but there's no doubting that both Norton and Clary have built their careers on "ooh, Matron!" innuendo, and I personally feel there is just the right amount of campness built into Strictly already without the host pushing into into full-on nudge-nudge wink-wink territory.

For the further avoidance of any doubt, my reference to "play it straight" was echoing the phrase used about the old straight-man/funny-man comedy trope, not a reference to sexual orientation.

Chris Hollins is too smug. Plus everytime he's on something is a reminder of how such a crap dancer ever won SCD in the first place.

I think they will go for Graham Norton actually. He is used to that spot where the ALW shows were on - plus Eurovision, etc. Seems obvious to me.

Dear GOD, NEITHER!

One's majorly irritating and the other's super smarmy...

Paul O'Grady or even Julian Clary for the role!!! I can think of quite a few people who would be good, but I think either of these options would kill the show dead.

Agree. He would remind the dance purists what the show is about - Entertainment!

Most of those suggested would cost as much as Bruce if not more. I for one would rather a less well known presenter with more money to the professionals and costumes.
