Its a fix!!! Then again maybe it isn't.

How come everytime a bloke wins Strictly Come Dancing it's always a travesty?

This year Denise or Kimberley should have won because they were 'far superior' dancers. Although only by a point in the final and in this case only Denise.

Last year Chelsee should have won because she was 'far superior'! She didn't win the judges vote against Harry, in the final or overall, but the judges vote only indicates the best dancer if it's a female who wins it.

The year before Kara won. So what happened there? Did the young female vote all go on some collective holiday that year or something.

In 2009 that hunk of manhood Chris Hollins won against the much less pleasing on the eye Ricky Whittle! What happened there? Was the country still in the grip of some sort of Lord of the Rings fever that meant the only attractive males were the of the hobbit variety.

2008 saw the win of Tom Chambers, obviously a fix becuse he shouldn't have even made the final! If the judges marks leave the position in such a way that the public can't save someone from the dance off then so be it. Especially if that dancer happens to be a male who will then go & win the final even though he's up against 2 'far superior' dancers. (although in Lisa Snowdon's case only in certain situations, in some cases she was grossly overmarked and should also have been elimanated well before the final). No in this year Austin should have won and he didn't despite being a relatively young, athletic man, two attractive girls beat him!! Crazy!!

In 2007 did the young female vote all collectively go lesbian in voting Alesha Dixon the winner? How else can you explain such a bizzare result? Okay there was the Gethin situation but she still had to beat the young, fit and handsome Matt Di Angelo.

2006 saw Mark Ramprakash win - enough said.

But how does that explain the Darren Gough win in 2005? Was he the stuff of teenage girls dreams?

Obviously 2004 is well before the young females realised that they were only allowed to vote for the fit young man. How else can we explain the victorys of Jill Halfpenny and Natasha Kaplinsky? After all they were the far superior dancers in their series so this really shouldn't have happened.

Sorry about the long, rambling post and i don't exactly mean everything I say but I just have so many questions.

How do we know that females only vote for the fit young man? Less than half of the winners in my mind fit this description. (I don't count Gough or Hollins and I'm not sure about Chambers.)

How do we know that it is only this particular demographic that will multiple vote?

Why does Louis taking his shirt off have such a dramatic impact in the vote when it apparently doesn't when it's Pasha or Artem or one of the other fit young men who just happens to be the professional dancer?

And, come to think of it, why doesn't this demographic who obviously have no interest in the quality of the dance or the relative merits of a particular celebrity and who will only vote on the basis of how attractive the competitors are still be clued up enough to know that under no circumstances can you vote for the professional male dancer, however attractive he may be?

Delighted Louis won. The judges vote should no have counted to decide 4th place then Dani would have been in. Don't like 3 in last part. Should have been 2. That was to save d face.

Perhaps it should be like Wimbledon and have concurrent men's and women's competitions. The women could have a glitter plate.

Excellent post Jethryk I've said something similar on another post but not, I'm ashamed to say, with your succinctness or wit!

Thanks for putting the case so clearly, OP!

Even the Ricky Whittle/Chris Hollins situation is enough to show that it ain't always the guy with the best bod who wins.

As for Chelsee v Harry, everyone said it was Harry's pecs that won, but Chelsee wasn't averse to giving her ample chest a good shake - in fact, it was the very first thing she did in her show dance - "Here I am, lads, and have a gawp at these!" shimmy, shimmy, shimmy.

Not a fix at all.... Louis and Flavia were worthy winners. They made a huge impact on the series since week 1 and were deserving of their place in the final, and the ultimate prize in the end. Well done to them both

Call me "picky" but as always in the final, it's a "popularity" contest and the viewers are encouraged every week to vote for their "favourite."

This is why, as an enjoyable entertainment show, which is really all it is, is the reason so many people watch it.
The judges can if they choose only "manipulate" the earlier rounds by eliminating the worst contestant that the public put in the bottom two.

I think that if there was a double elimination in the semi finals, Denise would have gone, leaving Dani, Kimberley and Louis in the final. Denise's vote probably would have gone to Kimberley as she is the second best dancer (Denise is the best) and also Kim and Denise are great friends. Dani would have been eliminated first and her votes would have probably been split between Kim and Louis (probably more so Kimberley - young girls who like Girls Aloud). But by having four in the final, and with a much shorter Stage 2 voting, Louis was obviously going to win. I genuinely think Kim could've won if there was a double elimination in the semi final. I think it was all stitched up for a Louis win just because Kim isn't doing the tour, or for some other reason (ITT seem to have been ignoring Kim all week).

On the night his were the wow performances but probably had the least amount of real dancing in them. He had the tricks to wow the public. Overall he was not the best dancer but if you have been allowed to get to the final and they want you to win you will probably do it. However we mustn't take the credit away from Flavia. Her choreography hid Lewis' weaknesses and emphasised his strengths.

Love the OP. I wanted Louis and Flavia to win because I love Flavia and have also enjoyed most of Louis' dances more than any of the other dancers.

Although I am probably old enough to be his grannie I do think he is goodlooking and a lovely guy but that is not why I wanted him to win. I didn't think he needed to take his shirt off, his showdance was stunning in my opinion and having no shirt made not the slightest bit of difference. Makes me laugh anyway that people honestly think he won because he took his shirt off. Normally with a male dancer you don't get to see a lot of flesh whereas the woman from week 1 are showing lots of leg, midriff, sometimes boobs.

If Kimberley, Denise or Dani had won I would have been disappointed for Louis and Flavia but I accept that they were all good dancers and worthy of being in the final and whoever the public like the most wins. Last year I really wanted Chelsee to win but was happy for Harry and Aliona. The previous year I liked both Kara and Matt but I would have preferred Matt to win. I did not however moan and make nasty posts about it.

Please don't confuse the situation by using facts and applying logic....it confuses people

I'm not buying the Denise & Kimberley were far better technical dancers thing either - Louis's lowest individual mark from the judges (27) was higher than either Denise (25) or Kimberley (26). There was only one dance where he failed technically, which was the jive, but compare that with Denise's hips going AWOL for all her Latin dances, or Kimberley's messy & gappy early ballroom or her cha-cha which even in the fusion had bent legs. They all had weaknesses. In the dances were he had his lowest scores - paso, samba, cha-cha - it was never the technique that the judges were complaining about, it was the performance & acting of the dance. By the end of the series he'd cracked that & scored exactly the same over the three dances as Kimberley in the final, & only 1 mark less than Denise.
