Try rewatching whilst muting the music for both of them.

Then see what you think.

I thought Flavia and Louis' Charleston was better than either - it had much more of the 1920's spirit than Denise's in particular. Although well danced, the song was inappropriate. Personally I love the Charleston, and hope it is never dropped, as it has such verve and entertainment value. (My dad was a Charleston champion, so I am biased I suppose.)

Kimberley - loved it! Denise and James' had awful music and ruined it for me.

I've just watched it back without music and still Denise's and James' seems sedate, they don't cover a lot of ground and it's just not fun. You can't watch Kimberley's without a smile on your face, I can't anyway. It captured the spirit perfectly.

Kimberley and Pasha's.

Whilst I will concur Denise is the best technical dancer, I never really enjoyed watching her and James. Just left me cold.

Tricky. I loved Denise's but there's something cute about Kimberley in that dance that made it look joyful. Louis appeared to be channelling Chris Hollins for gurning.

Denise for me. The synchronicity between her and James was absolutely impeccable. Also thought it wasn't as cheesy or OTT as some of the other Charlestons in strictly history.

Definitely Kimberley & Pasha's for me.

I must concur, however, that I enjoyed Denise & James's much more in the studio than at Wembley where I thought it was vastly overrated. Worked so much better in the studio.

Kimberley and Pasha by a mile.

For me the captures the essence of the charleston. Fun, cheeky, quirky. She had the right facial expressions at the right time, good swivel and good tricks.

Denise for me didnt capture the 'essence' of the Charleston, probably cause she was concentrating too much on being Egyptian. She pulled a couple of random facial expressions which were neither cheeky/naughty, and didnt have as many good moments for me.

So in other words I just felt Kimberley captured the essence of it more.

Denise & James' Charleston was the only 'wow' dance of the series for me -- loved the costumes, choreography and music. It was something a little different from the usual, which is probably why I loved it, as I usually hate the Charleston. I don't get why people expect every Charleston to be a comedy routine.

I enjoyed Kimberleys much more than Denises in answer to the OP, and I enjoyed Nicky's too but loved Louis and Flavias most of all.

The original poster should have perhaps made this a poll

Kimberley and Pasha for me got it just right.

Denise and James - technique was spot on but do we want all technique and no fun in a Charleston? I don't. I agree with the others who said it was better in the studio.

Louis and Flavia's Charleston felt forced and over-emphasised somehow in comparison.

Kimberley and Pasha's Charleston is probably my favourite dance on Strictly ever. So, to answer the OP, Kimberley's is my favourite out of hers and Denise's.

Denise's was technically great but lacked the cheeky and fun side to a Charleston.

Nicky's was probably the opposite of Denise's. It was full of cheek and fun, but not technically perfect.

I agree with an earlier poster that Louis' seemed too forced and the constant gurning, especially that face at the end, is so annoying. It was also so hyped up the first time that, in my opinion, it didn't deliver and was grossly over marked.

I found them both just superb and I couldn't split them. I have watched them back to back several times now.

The interpretation, timing, characterisation and technique were all just superb.

Most technically correct - Denise
Most enjoyed by the celeb - Denise, especially in the final
Most performance - Denise - understood and enjoyed and conveyed authentic, sharp, fun, clever charleston.
Most entertaining - Denise, the dance of the show for me, I'm not keen on Charleston in the show, it's a bit 'free for all' and few know what it's even supposed to look like.

Most overmarked - Louis, fun though it was, lazy legs, laboured , even the tricks looked laboured. And ham, not joyful, presentation.

Lol! Not surprised that this would be your response.

I thought the poster was a fan of Louis?

Her posts about Louis are usually about how disappointed she is with him and his dancing or lack of performance. He can't do anything right for her it seems so I'd say no, not a fan of his. *shrugs*
