I'm wondering if any of the show was live except for the results? Only reason I think this is the hair on the celeb girls..... The first dance featuring the pros Kim had very long wavy hair but then emerged with it all up and then down and wavy for the show dance.... How on earth did they get time to do that? And it's not the first time I've thought some of the live show might be pre recorded... Halloween springs to mind !!

I thought they always pre-record the pro dances and the guest performance but all celebrity performances are live. I assume last night the dance with the other celebrities could also have been pre-recoded.

I've been to the live show twice now, and some segments such as the guest singer and pro dances are recorded between the live show and slotted into the results show "As live" (even though the results are recorded Saturday). It's certain that some of the elements of the results show last night were recorded during the gap between the shows to allow time for costume changes.

Edit - the first time I went, Bette Midler was the guest and she forgot the lines of her own song (wind beneath my wings). Second time, the showdance had a second take. Guess that's why they do it, so the guest and showdance can have two takes if necessary

The main dances are live - there's enough time between routines for makeup and costume to work miracles. It's only the same as a stage show - it's remarkable how quickly you can transform someone with makeup, costume change, and clip-in hair extensions etc...

I think the pro-celeb dance at the beginning of the show was recorded though.
