...for Christmas.

The Justice Collective make the Christmas Number One spot for 2012.

It must be near a decade since we last had a decent number one at Christmas. Military Wives, RATM, X Factor winners. Booo!

Bah humbug!

Tbh I'm getting fed up of charity singles now. I know it's for a good cause but it seems like there's more and more every year. I'd rather just donate to the charity personally instead

James is doing really well though

X Factor DS forums. The most miserable and negative place online. I for one am happy for the families. What an achievement and I'm pleased it went to number 1 for Christmas, very small city but they know how to stick together in times of hurt. It's great seeing so many Everton fans putting aside sport and rivalry and helping out too.

Happy Christmas.

Only miserable sods would care where both songs came in the charts imo, As most people who have a heart would be very happy that they both did well for their charities

I think it's lovely that the two top songs benefit good causes.

It's very rare to have a decent Christmas no. 1 these days, let's face it: it's very rare to get a decent no. 1 at any time of the year. This year is another awful one again. Then again I always hated the original, let alone a bunch of drunk sounding low rent celebs caterwauling over a two bit production.

Can't a normal song get Christmas no.1 now? Just a regular single off someone's album! No X Factor, no charity etc.

I would be happy if it was at least a song sort of related to Xmas. In the 70s there were loads of them - Slade, Wizzard, Mud, Greg Lake (even if it was meant to be anti Xmas commercialisation), The Wombles etc Naff songs but you can still sing them drunk at the Xmas party. How many of us will sing along with The Military Wives at a Xmas party in 10 years time (or ever for that matter). It's time for the music industry to put Xmas back into Xmas - a nice cheesefest at a cheesy time of year.

I would love a decent Christmas-related song at number one for Christmas! Can't remember the last time a Christmas-related single got the Christmas number one. Does anyone remember?!

Sir Cliff, the original Band Aid ?

The 70s/80s were the best for Xmas songs

Thank you. Passing over the abomination that was Band Aid 20, I guess Stay Another Day was the last proper Christmas song. And I suppose you could argue that even that wasn't a proper Christmas song, it just had bells in it.

I find it really sad that Fairytale of New York has never been Christmas Number one.

Best Christmas song ever. RIP Kirstie MacColl.

At least the proceeds are going to good causes.

It's well known that people save their worst for Christmas - so it seems appropriate that the X Factor winners single is released then. It's been a long while since we had decent TV at Christmas as well.

Well maybe next year's XF winner could cover it as their winner's song - then we would all be happy LOL.

At least he's still in the running to be the first X Factor contestant to win the Guardian's Best Number One Single Of The Year Award. There's always tha—Oh wait, Global Superpower Cher Lloyd already got there first in 2011 with the official anthem of our generation, "Swagger Jagger".

Well, at least he remains the only X Factor contestant to record a cover of Shontelle's Impossible as their winner sing—Oh wait, Interstellar Force of Nature Cher Lloyd already got there first in that case too.

Hmm.

Well, at least he remains the first X Factor contestant to incorporate dubstep into his musi—Oh wait, Multiversal String Theory Strand Component Collapsing Neutron Star Cher Lloyd already got there first with her progressive, subversive SBTV-approved masterpiece "Dub On The Track."

So... is any aspect of James' career not modeled on Cher's or........... ?!!?!?!?!?!?

Worth mentioning that James Arthur had tweeted support last week for the Justice song wishing it be the Xmas No 1. Pretty unselfish of him. Nice thought.

Oh no no no, I wouldn't! That song is untouchable as far as I'm concerned. I'm just glad that they spared us from James's rendition of it this year in the final - apparently him and Lucy were set to duet on it in the group performance.
