I still remember watching Lilia Podkopayeva winning gold in the floor in '96 it was stunning!

I doubt I can remember anything else from that Olympics (other than the rowing and I think we may have won the relay on US turf)

Gymnastics is one of the most popular and most watched sports in the Olympics even if you don't watch it.

Cycling has only become popular in the last 3 Olympics when we started winning stuff whereas gymnastics has been popular with Brits even when we don't make it to the qualifying stages, it's more exciting now we're getting better.

Eta I was wrong about the relay so in fact I only remember gymnastics from that Olympics and Steve Redgrave winning another rowing medal!

I have loved watching gymnastics for years and tried to get tickets for it at the olympics. I also love athletics but no more than gymnastics. As for cycling I personally find it very boring. I didn't want Wiggins to win SPOTY.

I thought Denise did well not to be voted off first. She was a good dancer but most of her dances did not particularly excite me and most of them I would not bother to watch again. A lot of Louis' dances I have rewatched on youtube - his paso, tango and foxtrot. I loved his understated way of dancing.

Maybe Denise was technically a better dancer although she did make mistakes in some of her dances whereas I believe Louis didn't, but for many reasons she was never going to win.

Oh and I would have preferred it if Louis had kept his top on.

The same could be said of Denise. She was in at least four magazines one week and was constantly giving interviews. She was probably the most high profile of the celebs, media-wise, during Strictly.

i didn't mind louis winning, he was pretty good, and flavia is my favourite pro, but denise will definitely do better out of the show in terms of profile and future work. louis has about nil future in entertainment, except perhaps a bit of sports commentating, he just doesn't have the personality for a TV / entertainment career heaven knows what he will do with himself now he's pretty much too old for the next olympics.

I'm happy for Flavia and I'm happy for Denise. I would have been very upset if Denise had been eliminated after the showdance because on merit that would have been so unfair but she wasn't so all good as far as I'm concerned. I doubt she was naive enough to expect to win given that she was twice placed in the bottom two.

I am very happy for the multi talented Flavia, the show dance was beautiful I will never forget it. She choreographed it perfectly to Louis' strengths and produced a piece of art in the process.

I'm sad for Lisa and Kimberley at the moment.
