I have just caught up with last week's offering.

I really enjoyed it, the stars of the show for me, are Steph and Dom ( To the Manor Born), they are not snobbish at all and are great fun, and always look relaxed.

There was friction between James and Andrea, it was like Punch & Judy, and I felt sorry for the Wizard's coming last.

It's very unfair trying to compare a 40 a night B&B and a 200 a night hotel, i suppose it's done to create friction between the contestants.

Is The Winterbourne (Showbar), going to take the West End by storm?
I thought it was a really good week too!

Steph's favourite word on her twitter page is 'hilarious!', and I would think that is a great word for her and Dom.

Must say I had a wee keek at your profile page and saw your dog, just so cute with his/her little paw up!

I was just looking at that on Andrea's Northrise facebook page. Still quite a few tickets left.

Just had a nosey at FB page and I see Andrea from Northrise is doing a raffle for a 2 night stay there and bottle of champagne, 5 a ticket with a maximum 50 tickets to be sold.

She has taken a bit of stick from one poster but if she wants to cash in on her little bit of fame good luck to her and no I haven't bought a ticket.
I had a little look at the page too! There is a post from 25Jan about a raffle winner coming to stay so maybe the raffle is a regular thing.

I'd say that if she aready does it what's the problem but I don't think I'd be mentioning it just now. I definately think this is a perfectly nice lady who was not as bright as the the posh couple and the Wizard's Thatch and didn't,like many of us, think about what her edited words would sound like. You can't fault her from being proud of a pristine and efficiently run establishment. From what she says, she was more nervous than she thiught of the filming.

True. We tend to forget that these are real people who on the whole are just doing their best. It's set up like pantomime so we can't be blamed for a bit of hissing and booing on the one hand, but on the other it's sometimes overly cruel.

That Kevin from Marple didn't help himself did he? *Titters cruelly*

It's been removed from the Four in a Bed Facebook page because someone complained that it was a scam. Too right. She must be even more desperate for business since her disgraceful behaviour on the show last week. A raffle? How tacky. Stinks of desperation.

Wow too many pages/posts to go back through! Was in Leeds for a wee overnight trip at weekend.

Anyways, I don't think we are a clique on here, just sometimes the thread can move quickly and not everyone gets answered, I post fairly regularly and I get ignored sometimes. It happens.

We also do wander off topic occassionally, but that is just the thread. ALL threads all over the internet go off topic. Its very boring if we just stick to it at all times.

**No doubt someone has said all this

That is not true.

I have just had a look on the Four in a Bed Facebook page and the raffle offer is still there. Andrea said:

"Good morning all we are doing a raffle https://www.facebook.com/northriselodge?group_id=0 if any of you would like to buy a ticket to win the chance to meet the real us I promise no tears or forgetting the SUGAR!! Haha then pop over to our page thanks xx"

Clicking on the link in her post takes you to the Northrise Lodge Facebook page and there you can see that the raffle is to win:

A LOVELY WEEKEND BREAK FOR 2 ADULTS, 2 x NIGHTS BED & NICK'S AMAZING BREAKFAST!!! YOU CAN HAVE THE ROOM OF YOUR CHOICE, INCLUDING A BOTTLE OF CHAMPAGNE & CHOCOLATES
THIS CAN BE TAKEN ON ANY DAYS (EXPECT BANK HOLIDAYS & SUBJECT TO AVAILABITLY)
Payment by paypal or bank transer, cheque or post please, but we cannot be responsible for lost monies posted.. PLEASE ASK FOR YOUR CHOICE OF NUMBER FIRST COME FIRST SERVED. GOOD LUCK (Raffle will be drawn when we sell all 50 tickets)

so she is saying that if you win that prize you will then be able to see what they're really like, which is not the same as saying that she is raffling a chance to meet them is it?

Hi hamigo Yes, it was a shame about the wizard Wizard's Thatch but they did themselves a lot of credit nevertheless.

Steph and Dom were great company too. They're my kind of posh people. Sort of chummy and matey and blokey and you feel you could say anything to them.

The Blackpool place was fun too and I would enjoy taking part even though or perhaps because I am quite shy otherwise. That seems to be common enough but on theother hand you get some people opening a B & B purely to showcase their need to perform. I wouldn't go that far. But then again, never say never...

I am a little on the mature side now though, as daisydee has noted.

Ps: Is that your little dog in your profile pic? Adorable!
It's not our dog, Mrs Hamigo picked the picture, she liked Buster, Paul O'Grady's dog.

No doubt someone has, but I'll second it anyway Nutty.
We had people staying with us from Friday evening, so I haven't been around. I have snook a quick look now and then on my phone (hideous for trying to type on) and at one stage lost 4 pages - depends on how you have DS configured I suppose.

Anyway, I post regularly, including the frowned upon posting during the show but always like to hear from people who haven't posted before and what their take is on things...often there's a really fresh perspective - like last week, questioning just what went on behind the scenes with the 'clash' and how James is sometimes perceived in Blackpool.

I look on DS like a great big market - if you shop at the same stall all the time of course you're going to be more well known, but I hate the idea that casual customers(lurkers) don't feel able to shop at any stall they like (comment)
I always say it's not 'butting in' it's 'joining in'.
Can't say fairer than that, so Roll Up, Roll Up.

That is not true.

I have just had a look on the Four in a Bed Facebook page and the raffle offer is still there. Andrea said:

Thanks Sue and others who brought information over from Face Book. I've looked there in the past, but don't use it myself and always end up losing the link(s)
The right to redress is quite an important one I think when someone feels that the edited show doesn't represent them very well - for example the positioning of the shoe tray...if it really is for muddy walking boots, surely it should be in the hall or the porch and not in the bedrooms? Perhaps it normally is.

That raffle idea puts me in mind of the ones when people can't sell a house and so they sell 500 or 1000 tickets, raffle to be drawn when all the tickets are sold - a house for that much is a bargain - so too a 2 night B&B break with champagne and chocolates.
That said 50 x 50 raises 250
Superking room is from 85 per night and plus 7.50 per head for breakfast - I hadn't clocked that it was charged separately last week?

So 170 + 30 breakfasts + say 35(?) for the c&c = 235
= a little bit of extra profit depending on when the break is taken and how bookings are going.

Not too sure why I typed all that out other than it's a better kind of conversation than squabbling.
Speaking of which, in as much as I don't like new posters to feel excluded or intimidated, I also don't like to see regular posters driven away.
Tommo, if you're reading this, I'm not going to ask you to change your mind and rejoin the thread, that's up to you to think about, but you always seem to enjoy it, so if it were me I wouldn't be put off.

Also, thanks very much for finding the links as usual, you and Tynkabell, this week's properties seem more of a match on the face of it, so we'll see what transpires

We shall see, I hope not.

Anyway, tonight...

Lorraine Trasatti and her Italian husband Gino, who run Windmill Cottage in Shropshire, are in with a chance of winning the title of best B&B as another round of the competition gets under way. However, the guests are unimpressed when Lorraine makes a hash of the coffee at breakfast

My walking boots cost more than 200. Now I know that a lot of folk think that a trivial amount, not even enough to pay for one nights B&B But I prefer to know where my boots are - or at least have the option.

Blimey Shrike, that was quick off the mark.
I've only copy and pasted, you might be a bit premature...I can't be held responsible if it turns out to be a storm in a coffee cup

Sorry missed the walking boot comment.
You'd have to carry them upstairs on the tray then
what I was thinking is that there wouldn't be much point in having a tray to contain the mud if someone walked up to their room in the boots iyswim.

I do agree that I wouldn't want someone running off with my boots, even if they cost 20.

I imagine the tension between her and James didn't help. I felt they were quite alike, which can lead to clashes.
