Just wondering why ITV haven't done any sort of promotion for Emmerdale over Christmas. I know it never does amazingly well (usually because its put up against Doctor Who or some other ratings juggernaut on BBC), but it seems a bit unfair to promote Corrie loads and nothing for Emmerdale.

I know it hasn't got a super amazing storyline, but to be honest neither has Corrie.
Just goes to show how ITV always favours Corrie over Emmerdale.

Their budget? I doubt it costs much to create a 30 second promo to be shown inbetween programmes.

Tbh I don't think there's much happening on Xmas day in ED apart from Cameron burying Alex, but the thing is no other character knows about it so there's nothing major going on in the sense that there's a big reveal and death (EE) or a wedding (Corrie).

ED have missed a trick there IMO! They should have had Charity find out about Jai being the father of Rachel's baby on Xmas day, not just because it'll kick off big time, but also so we don't have to endure the tedium of Jai sneaking to hospital and Rachel whining about "ma beeeby!"

I've been thinking this for the past week. Where was the promotion for Cameron confessing, kidnapping and consequently killing Alex, Alicia getting out and Chas' trial.

Whereas Coronation Street has been promoted alot over the last fortnight, leading up to the borefest that is Leanne and Nick's wedding.

Maybe because the current storylines aren't worth promoting.

Emmerdale always gets cast aside at Christmas and the big focus goes on Corrie - been the case for a good 4/5 years now.

It's a shame that Emmerdale has been sidelined again, it's Christmas story seems to warrant some good promotion but as usual Corrie gets the glossy advert despite having a weak storyline at the forefront of its Christmas episodes.

Unfortunately ITV is always going to favour the one that will rate the most, in this case it's Corrie.

It's worth noting that Emmerdale has been awkwardly scheduled as well, in order to avoid Doctor Who. Also, Coronation Street has a big ratings battle opposite Call The Midwife which ITV will want to win, hence the extra promotion.

If they use clips to make it look exiting they usually end up giving away all the plots and surprises, i hate seeing a film and it turns out all the good bits were in the trailer.

Bib - I agree. It's like when an album is advertised on telly and all the good songs are in the advert, the rest of the album is doggy doos!
