A doppelgänger created for an ulterior purpose and she'll keep dying and coming back at different periods in time until it's been achieved.

Clara is the new Rory for dying purposes.
Plus, what are the odds we'll get an episode called The Woman Twice Dead in 7B? |

That was the 22nd. Something else important happened the following day but I've forgotten what it was
![]() As for Clara Oswin Oswald - I reckon a riff on Michael Moorcock's Eternal Champion - in both episodes it was her who saved everyone. |

Maybe there's a planet somewhere with a factory manufacturing Clara's for dispatch to different eras and eventually the Doctor will face a whole army of them offering soufflé!!

The eternal companion riff is interesting isn't it - Michael Moorcock's Jerry Cornelius and Oswald Bastable books had characters who would die and pop-up in different times - and, of course, City of Death has an antagonist who is split across the ages by a huge time event. Also, Bryan Talbot's Luther Arkwright books have his main love interest and companion as a woman who exists in multiple alternate realities but has a psychic link with each of her selves - although her name is ... Rose.

Clara Oswin Oswald maybe has a consciousness that exists at multiple points in time (whereas us mortals exist at only one point in time), or she always exists; if she dies in one time, she will appear in another. Its sort of Quantum Theory type stuff.
The Doctor has the thing he wants most; a companion who cannot really die because her consciousness is eternal. |

the universe incarnate, the doctor could do with a hand considering he's only one man. a pat on the back even if clara doesn't know it.
