Hi all
Some of you will have read my posts about getting cats to take their pills. I got lots of helpful replies and, happily, Kandi is now
taking her pills
However, some results came back at the weekend, and Kandi not only has cardiomyopathy but it also looks like she has a tumour in her stomach.
Kandi is FIV+ and won't be able to withstand the aggressive treatment needed for a stomach tumour. The other thing she may have is multiple ulcers in her stomach, again not very treatable because she's FIV+.
Let me tell you a bit about my amazing cat. She is three yeard old. She was abused as a kitten and then abandoned. She turned up at the shelter near death's door, about six months old, having injuries consistent with people kicking her. She was given all the usual tests and came up positive for FIV. She was neutered and reacted badly to the anaesthetic, so much so that they thought about putting her to sleep. But she was on the borderline and they did what they could to keep her alive. I then came along and adopted her.
She was bred as a pedigree Russian Blue but has a tiny white patch on her shoulder, so she's no good for showing or breeding and the CPL thought she was abandoned because of this. She started to get ill a few weeks ago and the vet initially thought she just had cardiomyopathy, which is bad enough. However, he now thinks she might have a stomach tumour (at worst) or a number of ulcers (at best), so the outlook isn't good.
Whilst she's quieter than usual, I think she's still bright and up for fighting this. I'd therefore like to ask you all to send some good karma to Kandi and keep her in your thoughts. I'd love to post a photo of her but I don't know how to do that on Digital Spy...... if you know how I can do that then please let me know. Otherwise, please send good karma to Kandi.
