Please help.
I own a Bush 6690D wide screen TV with built in OnDigital freeview.
(It works no problem by the way).
I want to connect it to my Phillips DVD recorder to record freeview channels.

Here is my problem...
When I have the 2 connected and run the auto tune on the DVDR all I can get is the ANALOGUE stations. (the usual 5).
How can I get it to recieve the digital signal?

Merry Christmas

The DVDR cannot 'tune' to digital channels only your digita TV does this.

Connect the TV scart out to the DVDR scart in.
When recording set the DVDR input to be 'AV1' (or whatever it is called) and you will be recording whats on the TV. Rmember to set the digital channel on the TV correctly - ie to the one you want to record.

You are now able to tune the TV to any analogue channel to watch at the same time.

If you're under the impression that your DVD recorder contains a digital terrestrial receiver, you're mistaken.

In order to receive digital television, you will require a digital set-top box.

I assume you signal goes

Aerial --> tv-->DVDR otherwise you would only ever get the analogue.

Simple way (it must be if I suggest it) would be:-

Aerial --> Digibox-->DVDR-->tv.

I know it adds another set of cables and messes up, but at the moment that is why I am thinking of investing in another box to stick in my set up between the signal and the video inorder to record from digital tv, the problem is I can't actually justify why I would wanto to do this yet, not a lot on Freeview that I want to record.

Hamlet77, a couple of reasons why you might want to record from digital:
1) better quality pictures
2) widescreen pictures (if your TV is a widescreen one).

The Digital chans are probably output through one of the scart sockets on the Bush (consult the instruction book to see which one), which you would connect to the DVDR's AV2 socket........switch the DVDR to this (usually marked, INPUT or AV or Source).
You cannot autotune the Digital chans on the DVDR.

Freeview will probably be output via one of the scarts but it will not be RGB. The best bet would be to get a separate Freeview box just to record off of, this lets you record Freeview whilst TV is off, record one Freeview channel whilst watching another and record Freeview in RGB.

Eddie777 has posted almost exactly the same post here:

I have asked for it to be merged, time will tell!

My TV has built in OnDigital. Sorry if I didn`t make that clear.

Sometimes only one of the Scart sockets on the TV has video out (assuming you've more than one). Try using a different scart socket. Make sure your DVD recorder is set to it's AV input.

Since you mention Ondigital im assuming you may have one of the original Bush iDTVS which i have. Well this tv takes an aerial into the ondigital box and then backout again and into the aerial socket (in other words the tv has two aerial sockets), if you have the same setup then you can wire it as follows:

outdoor aerial --> iDTV aerial in---> idTV aerial out -->dvdr arial in-->dvd aerial out--->vcr aerial in-->vcr aerial out--> TV. This is my setup. Obviously the quaity is less than scarts but it works! It also assumes you dont have one of the very cheap dvdr's that dont have an aerial input/output and only work by scart
