got a wi fi tablet for Christmas.

Okay around the house (loads of music put on). But wondering outside home, would I be better getting a dongle or tethering (?) to a mobile (might involve a new mobile my mobile is about 5 years old,,,hardly use the thing).

Or say tomorrow just get out of bed at 4.55am switch router on and download a newspaper subscription...read it at work during lunch...guess will save money.

Right from the getgo google seemed a little too prominent on my gemini 10" tab

Maybe they own Gemini ? or are working in assoc with them and getting themselves embedded in the software.

Are you for real? You bought a tablet with the Google Android OS - which is an OS that they created (rather than just own).

It's been around for years, maybe you've somehow missed the link between Google and the Google created OS that is taking over the mobile market?

so you are happy to spend a hundred quid and know very little about it ?

Why did you buy a tablet in the first place, what are planning on doing with it ?

two hundred quid !
It was an impulse buy , but the one I have, the android 10" has a keyboard so
I can do a little typing without having my desktop on ... making a noise...
the tab and keyboard are silent.

Also its brilliant how fast you can get on the net with a tab...
a few seconds, whereas the desktop takes about 10 mins to reboot.

I think your desktop PC has issues; mine takes about 1 minute to reboot .... and would be faster if I cleared out some of the crud.

To be honest, think you bought the worst possible tablet for the price. £200 could have got you a Nexus 7, which is definitely one of the best tablets under £300.

That is far from normal. How old is it?

200 quid for an impulse buy are you mad

I could understand say a dvd, game,cd items for 40 or less but 200 on a tablet you seemingly know noting about is abit stupid IMO you should have done some homework it does not take long nowadays
Since google and wikipedia are around

Even if the guy is a millionaire it still makes you a bit stupid to buy something like that on a whim knowing nothing about it

Got to admit , did nt like the idea of blue tooth connection to the keyboard
from the getgo . You seem to have to type in a code and connect up every time you wish to use it .

I miss the use of a mouse, and the right click
functions etc.
There could be some way to get a mouse working in a tab

Magic and ritual sacrifices are not normally accepted methods for getting a mouse working on a tablet, so you'll have to do with the old fashioned cable or bluetooth mouse and pair them up ...

Connected the mouse to my old Advent Vega a few times (I have it on the desktop dock), works perfectly - and is handy as the screen (and digitiser) are slightly knackered.

just managed to get mouse working in there tried to save
a pic on web, did nt get right click save option

These tabs are ok for just browsing the web, getting info etc
but for a lot of practical things, saving stuff, cut and paste text etc these tabs are a bit lacking.

They're designed for touch. The operating system isn't designed to work with a mouse. You're always going to get a sub-standard mouse experience with an operating system which is designed for people's big fat fingers. How do you right click with a finger? You don't, so that's probably why it's not working as you'd expect.

If you wanted the same experience as a laptop, you should have bought a laptop.

Or perhaps a Chromebook?

I did manage to cut and paste text... working
in some word processing software... it was a bit of a struggle
but it can be done.

But lets face it, these tabs are great and getting cheaper.
Ideal World spend a lot of time flogging them and Bid TV sell
them too.
How long before they charge themselves up by sunlight and daylight ?

Oh I dunno.

I recently tried this: my Android phone, connected to a monitor via HDMI/DVI adaptor, paired with my bluetooth mouse and keyboard.

Made for a serviceable 'computer' if not for the mobile browser experience and general lack of desktop oriented apps... i.e. blown up finger sized apps... which was to be expected.

After all it was my phone on a 21" monitor.

(I don't recall whether right-click was supported...)

Exactly my point. It was "serviceable", it wasn't optimal or a great experience.
