Lots of people have said they turned the Royle family off last night... How far did you get?
I lasted about 35 minutes.
And if thousands of people all over the country turned off how does this affect the ratings?

Watching it on Sky+ now and completely zoned out during the whole Joe date stuff. Thankfully its just finished so I'll probbaly start watching it again.

The whole date scene was everything that The Royle Family isn't and it even changed the characters. Jim would not have done that, he would've sat in his chair refusing to move, probably farting and making comments about their conversations. I don't particularly care for Joe's character either.

Don't let anyone put you off watching it, you have to make your mind up about it yourself, I just wondered how many people couldn't stick with it and turned it off, I have rarely not stuck with something until the end but I just couldn't bring myself to watch it any longer.

I havn't watched any of them,,,,
Like all comedies,,,, I tried it out when it started - I didn't see or hear one funny part.
Most people that I talk to about it, tend to agree, but as the "media" kept saying it was good, I tried again, and again, but my opinion hasn't changed.

I just don't see anything funny or clever about it.

It's one of those 'modern greats' that i've never watched. The only time I have seen it is clips from chat shows, clip shows or award shows.

I'm the same I have given it more than one chance but just can not find one good thing about it unfunny-bad acting and just boring if this is the best of modern comedy then it says a lot about how bad comedy has gotten since the golden days

I love the royle family, I've got the box set, but this was truly awful! I turned off, such a shame, was really looking forward to it!

This is all over BBC News today as having helped BBC1 win the day over ITV. The ratings are sophisticated enough to measure the drop-off during the course of a programme and yet un-surprisingly there’s no mention of this. Proof that the BBC are more ratings obsessed than any of their commercial rivals.

If Aherne can sober up for ten minutes next year and has time to scribble what passes for a script on the back of a fag packet then it’s a dead cert that this dead-on-it’s-feet show will reappear, zombie-like, next year.

This is what I was wondering, they obviously have only counted the number of viewers who started watching, but by reading the other thread on here and looking at Facebook etc, loads of people turned off and there must be thousands of others who don't take to internet forums who couldn't hack it.

Im a die hard fan but even I switched it off last night. I lasted until 10:15. I recorded it so im watching the rest from where I switched off.

Well done Aherne and Cash for spoiling one of the best comedies ever.

I loved the raw, down to earth feel the show(had). This episode is up there with Miranda!

Such a shame they turned the show into a parody of the Royle family.

About half an hour, my husband (who loves it usually) said 'Can we turn this **** over' we had no objections, I was bored to tears with the tediousness and the stale old jokes , it was a complete cop out, they just wrote a crap script for the filthy lucre.

When it first started most people could see something of their own families in it, not now, now they are just a bunch of filthy moronic selfish prats.
They have just turned into dirty uncaring idiots.... Forgetting your kids exist maybe funny once but you can't keep carrying on ridiculous stuff like that.

TO give a honest comment on this episode, you have to watch it all. which i did. and yes it was crap.
