They seem to be doing it to most of their products which is a shame.
They've ruined the Milka and Cadburys drinks, if I wanted instant chocolate powder I'd save a fortune and buy a tub for about a £1 and still have a better flavoured drink than what you now get with Tassimo as the most of the powder remains in the pod after the brew cycle.
Now I read they've changed the Chai Latte into a pod full of powder too.
It's such a shame what they've done, hopefully they'll see sense and rectify before too much damage has been done to their profit margins.

My Mum bought a Tassimo a while ago. Unfortunately, she doesn't like the taste of the UHT milk used in the milk cartons.

That milk can take getting used to. |f dhe still wants to keep her Tassimo she could just use it for the coffee. Get a small French Press, and froth some milk up in that, then warm it in the microwave before adding the coffee pods.

They've discontinued my favourite Lemongrass Chai Latte and the "new improved" Chai Latte is just awful. Undrinkable tbh.

Unless they bring back both originals I'm not bothering to order anymore.

Everything is going cheap in the world of Tassimo disks currently. Despite hundreds of bad reviews, they keep on charging ahead with bad decisions.

The Chai Latte is the latest to get the 'new and improved' treatment. Previously: real milk, real tea (two separate disks). Now, a single disk, containing 'instant' tea powder. It's a horrible drink now!

If you've already got a tassimo machine, keep it - you won't get back to what you're used to with any other machine, but you can do a few things:
Want to get back to something resembling your 'old' Lattes? Buy the espresso disks, and a load of milk disks! You'll need two milk disks and an espresso to make a latte. Want flavour? Just buy a flavour syrup!

Chai Latte? Similar deal. Buy milk disks. Run two milk disks through, and whilst that's going on, stick the kettle on and use a Chai tea-bag to make a very small cup of tea - let it brew to your desired strength and then pour the tea into the milk - you may need to sweeten to taste.

Now this all defeats the purpose of having a drinks machine like this of course, and that's why I would say if you don't currently have a Tassimo machine, don't get one (and if your current one breaks, don't replace it).

The strength of Tassimo was always that it made a whole variety of drinks, and used good quality ingredients to do so. JDE seem quite happy to trade that advantage away in the name of cost savings, and there really is no alternative on the market that does the same job now.

If JDE don't change course, I'll probably look toward Nespresso or Dolce Gusto for my next machine. This will leave me still needing to use some of the above methods for making Chai Lattes for example .. but that seems to be about the only options.

I can't recall the last time I purchased any drinks for my machine. Overpriced and now most if not all variations are ruined.

No need to buy any milk discs at all, as already mentioned in this thread recently just use fresh milk.
Use a coffee press and heat required quantity of milk in a microwave for around 30 secs, then push the plunger up and down which will give you some rather nice frothy milk.

Agreed, in fact yesterday we sold our Tassimo T20 machine as it was not getting used alot lately, Replaced it with a lovely Red Dolce Gusto Mini Me which produces lovely coffee, with a bonus of the pods being a bit cheaper. I have ordered a taster pack of all the flavours, but I'm liking the Grande so far.

Tassimo stop 'Improving' your coffees, they're bloomin awful. Take a leaf out of Nescafe's book.

I wonder if they will ever go back to the former milk pods? What Tassimo has going for it is the costa label. People think they are getting costa at home and will buy it for that but the milk ruins the drink. I read that costa are looking into the negative feedback and are working with tassimo on a solution. If costa were to pull out then tassimo really would be in trouble.

I won't hesistate to get a nespresso next time

Just got a Tassimo Joy for Xmas. If I'd looked at the recent posts on here first I might not have done, but too late now.

So, some idiot questions (as I'm new to all these types of machines)....

We've got some Costa Cappuccino, Costa Latte and Cadburys Chocolate. The Cappuccino seems to be a very small cup of coffee.
Is it possible to get more water through the pod if you want a larger cup?

I've read about cup sizes and that they do an extra large. I think the Latte we've got is a 310 (or 325) ml, is this large or x-large. I've only seen up to 325 ml on the Tassimo website.

Any other recommendations, like not having the UHT milk and putting your own in. Worth trying?

Press and hold the button after brew cycle to add required water.

Latte is the largest they do.

I'm currently using my own milk, for Latte's & cappuccino just get a pack of espresso and use fresh milk.

I don't think that's an option now. Is there a thread for these machines though?

Sounds promising thanks. I'll give both those suggestions a go. I like my coffee in a mug (a full mug)

Use your own milk. If you have a small french press put it in that, pump it a few times, then stick it in the microwave. https://youtu.be/aJ0H05FsogI

That's what I've been doing to use upthe expresso I have. Not sure I'll bother with the machine after that, may as well use my stove top with frothy milk, or make some cold brew.

If you want a full mug of coffee then buy Kenco Americana Grande.

Just in case anyone's interested there's a petition about the recent changes to some our much loved drinks.
I think it definitely needs more signatures as there's currently only 25.

Is there a list of the sizes of various drinks from the pods?

I want to get a couple of nice glasses but I want to get the right size (particularly for cappuccinos)

Have a look at their site, the size of each drink is stated in the descriptions.
