[Shoe Lace]

I saw the movie two or three years ago and I think it was quite new, so probably a 2010/2011 release. I am quite sure that the lead was a black actor. The story, as much as I can remember, was about some after-disaster world order, everybody had to fend for themselves and I think in the first scenes the guy saved a girl from being attacked by some mob in some place in the middle of nowhere (desert?). After which he moved on to a town which was like the towns in old westerns with a saloon and everything.
I only saw parts of the first half and it was so long ago that my memory is very sketchy, but I thought I'd give it a shot and post here, maybe someone can recognise what film I'm talking about because I'd really like to see it again.
