Did Bruce ever get punished for the "Jelly Wallace" introduction?

Even Jessie herself said she feels it was said as a nasty insult and not as an innocent mistake. I also can't see how one could get "Jelly" out of "Jessie" so I believe her.
I can't recall if Bruce was ever reprimanded for this though, or was he?

Not over such a trifling affair.

Eh? When did he do this? And tbh given how he speaks I can quite see him stuttering Jessie into Jelly.

I didn't know she'd thrown a wobbler about it.

Just googled it and the article she mentioned she thought it was a deliberate spiteful act was in 2009. Are we really going to use such an old item to beat Bruce up with?

It seems that some people will,

Ah well, this thread ups the number of "Bruce must go" threads to the required weekly quota

I hope so, you just don't see enough geriatric showbiz veterans getting flogged for making slightly ill-judged off-the-cuff remarks.

I'm sure she's been called worse!

I'm not sure Jessie Wallace's judgement on anything is particularly sound.

The woman is so obsessed with herself she thinks soembody like Bruce would spend his days trying to work out how to insult her. Yeah, right.

Series six. It was like Pasta Kovalev, but more original. And funny.

Pa(sh)a - Pa(st)a

Je(ss)ie - Je(ll)y.

You don't appear to have much imagination.

Was she a bit wobbly on the dance floor?

I'd be surprised if the judges weren't, as some time, called Craig Revel Hardboard or Bruno Caneloni.

I too thought it was a trifle bizarre.

The BBC don't "punish" people. The closest they get is to give 'em a huge wedge and see them go to other networks or happy retirement.

If Bruce had wanted to insult her, he would have come up with something better than 'Jelly'. Actually, thinking about it, Jessie's last name has two l's in it, so it's far more likely, that he was thinking of her last name (Wallace) when he was saying her first name, so it became 'Jelly'. A far more sensible explanation (elderly man gets a bit mixed up) than Bruce randomly aiming dessert-based insults at her!

More likely, he couldn't read the auto-cue properly as he's too vain to wear glasses.

I'd like to believe that Brucie misreads the autocue than the alternative because if he is deliberately being nasty that makes him a bit of a ****

In fairness, I remember when this happened and just let it pass as a slip of the tongue, but I just read the article where Jelly - sorry, Jessie - said that she doesn't think it was an accident. She later goes on to say she pretty much hated the Strictly experience so no wonder she said it!

Overall, I find it silly that she'd find it 'spiteful', but she did.

I don't like Bruce Forsyth, but I think it was a genuine mistake and I agree it probably had a lot to do with her second name having 2 lls in the middle and so he was thinking of her surname when saying her first name, thus saying Jelly instead of Jesse.

Yet another reason why he should go.

But did she mention it just because she wanted a bit of media publicity?

"Punished" is an odd thought. He may or may not have been being deliberately rude but the moment for retribution is very long past.

Hard to tell 3 years after she mentioned it!
