Help Needed Iphone 5 Docking Speakers Problem
Hi guys
Hopefully some teccy will be able to help/advise Not long had my Gear 4 docking station for Iphone/Ipod etc, but ever since getting my Iphone 5, It doesn't obviously fit the dock cos of the lightning connector, but even with 1 of the lightning adapters to connect it, it wont play any music through the speakers at all, or even acknowledge there is a iphone connected Weird thing is it does make the charging sound when connected Tried with another dock my parents have (A philips 1) but it does exactly the same, am I stuck with these speakers? I don't want to have to fork out for a new system and I know the new 1s on the market are expensive Anything I can do to make it work? |

Sounds to me like the lightening adapter is not working properly. Is it an official apple one or a 3rd party?
Might be worth taking into an apple store and getting a 'genius' to test on a couple of different speaker/device combinations to narrow down where the problem is. Most speakers have the option of using an aux connection, so you could run a cable from the headphone socket of the iPhone to the speaker that way, but obviously that is not ideal. |

Yeah it was a third party 1, had to throw it away anyway as I broke it when it got stuck (poorly made)
Do any of them actually support audio/video out? Or is it just the official apple ones? |

You don't mention which model of dock you have. But there is a compatibility chart here
http://www.gear4.com/media/64/9664-1...v1.0_print.pdf that might indicate where the problem lies. It seems not all the models support playing audio via the adapter, some need Bluetooth or a 3.5mm jack to jack lead. |

If Gear 4 have paid any resulting fees, am sure Apple will support it soon.
I've got the Houseparty Dab too. You can simply use the 3.5mm line-in at the back, no control though. |

Wondering if I should get a decent official lightning adaptor from apple, that way it wont break easily like the old 1, and I know it will work with my car stereo
