Hello all,

Who is responsible for the set design in emmerdale?!

The new interiors for home farm are terrible, it looks like something from a Scandinavian home store.

It's supposed to be the home of the local gentry, I wish they would keep with the tradition. Plus why are all the sets changing in emmerdale? It's so unrealistic and distracting especially when it's not mentioned in the scripts !!!

Home Farm has changed so much over the years its redicilous. When Alan Turner and Joe Sugden worked for NY Estates, when you came in the front door and turned right you went into the office. Mrs Bates worked in the corner with her back to the door. In front of her was a full length wall. In front of the window was Alan's desk. Now when you go in the front door and turn right, you enter a dining room and there is a big openining in the wall allowing you into the kitchen with a back door leading out into the side of the house, which from the length of the house from the outside is not possible to happen

I agree with the OP, the living room set looks bland now. I really liked it before, especially the brown suede sofas!

Could not agree more with you about the Home Farm decor. It's terrible. It's reasonable to believe that the newlywed Katie and Declan might have wanted a new modern look to their home (if that's what the producers would have us believe), but they could have made it a bit nicer!! Even something like the decor at Holdgate (which isn't really to my taste) would have worked better.

I like the abstract painting that hangs on the wall in Declan's office. I want that for my living room.

Just how I remember it. And those were the days when Turner was a force to be reckoned with. Him and Joe had some amazing rows but Turner never really caught Seth out properly, stood there stuttering away after his latest scam!
But yes, Mrs Bates was looking at us, Turner back to the window... and you got a right carpeting.
Now it's rubbish and who dreamt up putting a pinball table in?

Anyway, hard to care given that Declan, like most of the other characters, draw their personality out of a hat each episode.

I always wondered where the office is in Home Farm? I know a basic outline for the set is:

Kitchen - Dining Room - Front Door/Hall - Living Room

I'm guessing the office isn't connected to any of those, unless I'm missing a doorway somewhere lol

Didn't it used to be beside the stairs ? You come down the stairs and turned right and there was the door straight into the office. I think that has been all changed now !

That K table in the living room? What's that all about ??

At present its at the back of the house. Remember when Declan's wife (the hot one) and Moira's son were at it, they were nearly caught with him with his pants down and she shoved him out into the cold at the back of the house into a little yard. I think you can also get to it by coming in the main door of the house and heading down the corradoor.

Funny, I was going to start a thread about those horrible fruit bowls at home farm. Wonder if they were wedding gifts?

Excuse my ignorance, but what is a K table?

Also, does anyone know who if anyone is living in Hazel and Jackson's old place?

Not that i really care too much about the Decor, but i have to say that i think it now looks like a modern, cosy home.
The old decor might have looked more 'stately' but i thought it looked cold, old-hat, and certainly not the kind of place i'd like to live in.

If anything the browns and maroons were very homely whereas the new ice cool blues and beiges are very cold.

It also seems very small. I thought it was supposed to be a country house. The large letter K is very naff. Is there a D knocking about somewhere?

The new decor looks like a set from a Tim Burton movie, a cheaply made Tim Burton movie.

The Home Farm set is a joke, it's really embarrassing that the show still can't make decent studio sets in 2013. And the sets seem to be getting more and more brightly lit.

The new interior is just foul. It looks like they have been to a car boot, bought a load of old junk, and used that to decorate the set.

When I buy a country estate the 'big house' will be all oak panels and beams, heavy tapestry curtains, traditional farmhouse kitchen with a range, antique carved furniture, restored original walls etc..............Well I can dream can't I?

Thanks for that, I honestly can't say I've noticed that before, but then the Maceys bore me so I probably wasn't paying attention! Looks awful though!
