Have you finished all your turkey?
My turkey was £15 (frozen from Morrisons) and has been a bargain!
We had lunch for 5 on Xmas Day. On boxing day we had some cold with re-heated veg and jacket potatoes, again for 5 people. Last night we picked the carcase and any fatty bits we put to one side for the dog. I boiled it up and today made a wonderful turkey stew with the stock and remaining meat cubed up, leeks, potatoes, celery, carrots, a few red lentils, onions, fresh parsley, S & P, few dashes of Worcester Sauce, couple of bay leaves. That fed 5 again. It's all gone now and not a scrap wasted.

Just boiling up the carcass for stock now.
We had quite a bit left over till yesterday, when rugby mates dropped by for a few ciders and wolfed the remaining bits, and cleared me out of bread-sticks and branston pickle to boot. Bloody hoovers the lot of them! |

Still got a third of a gammon joint left. It is uncooked as I sliced it off before it was cooked. Had carbonara with some of it last night. Gammon & pineapple will be on the menu soon.

We're trying Jamies turkey and leek pie tonight.
Already made a delicious stock with the carcass. |

Some good ideas there.
I'm interested in how we spell carcase/carcass ... they're both correct, it's just what we are used to.

Just cooked my turkey leg. Had two helpings off it. Once it's cooled I'll strip off what's left. It looks like quite a lot. Should keep me going until Sunday when I visit the folks for late xmas day.

it fed seven of us for two days a turkey crown.I gave the rest away last night as I'd had enough of it.
I love the whole turkey, stuffing, chippolatas and smoked streaky bacon strips but two days was lovely but enough. |

I watched Jamie cooking and he had dirty nails and that put me off
![]() He always looks like he needs a good wash. That Marco Pierre whatsit looks mucky too. I think Gino always looks clean as does Lorraine Pascal. The old biddy who used to be one of the 2 Fat Ladies always looks mucky. I just cannot bear food made by anyone who doesn't look hygienic. There's a very posh hotel near here and the Head Chef is filthy. He stands at the back of the hotel smoking wearing filty old trainers and his chef's trousers and top are disgusting. |

We still have a bit left, I've just made a coleslaw and will have turkey with that for lunch.
The coleslaw is made of Brussels, red cabbage, red onion, carrots, garlic granules, black pepper, mayo and natural yog and it taste bloomin' good if I do say so myself ![]() Saw a recipe for leftover turkey and bubble and squeal patties which I may give a go too! |

All gone Christmas Day, don't really see the point of buying one too big and eating reheated meat for a week.

Left overs are the best bit! The meals we've had out of the leftovers were probably nicer than the actual roast dinner. Also you don't have to eat it all week. With a bit of forward thinking my dear Walter, you can prepare meals and freeze them so when you've got a busy working week, as some of us do, we can just take them out of the freezer and reheat. |

Our turkey is still going strong. We bought a live one so the meat would be fresh and tender. Unfortunately we still cant catch it.......
