Apologies if this is a stupid question, but I want to find a way of saving some of my Sky+ programmes before I upgrade to Sky+ HD.

I'm told that as soon as I upgrade, I will be unable to access the programmes on my existing Sky+ box any more.

Assuming this is true, I have been looking to buy a DVD recorder with a built-in hard drive. But I have found some comments on the web that suggest that not all DVD/hard drives will record from external sources.

Can someone point me in the right direction in terms of what I should be looking for? Ideally, it would have at least 160GB of space on the hard drive, and it must be able both to record stuff from my Sky+ box and then burn it on to a DVD.

Thanks.

As far as I'm aware all DVD/HDD recorders will record from external sources - not much point otherwise.

It's PVR's that won't record from external sources, but DVD/HDD's will as they have the require analogue to digital conversion, and MPEG encoding.

Great - many thanks for your reply.

I don't suppose you would have any opinion about this particular offering? http://www.amazon.co.uk/Panasonic-DM...pr_product_top

Thanks again.

That looks fine, and Panasonic are one of the top two brands.
