Agree on Black Sabbath, but I'd say Meglomania or, for pure metal, Symptom of the Universe.
Is there any other kind of metal? I don't think so. |

Perhaps Enter Sandman by Metallica or Symphony Of Destruction by Megadeth.

Symphony Of Destruction by Megadeth
I love that song! Definately a modern classic, along with:Angel Of Death - Slayer Replica - Fear Factory Refuse/Resist - Sepultura Walk - Pantera Wolverine Blues - Entombed (I admit it! I'm totally incapable of naming one song...there's just too much good music.) |

If you specifically mean a hardcore metal song, then Enter Sandman. Or possibly From Out Of Nowhere, Faith No More.
If we're talking about songs from metal bands, then Sweet Child O' Mine. |

Old School Metal: Black Sabbath - Sabbath Bloody Sabbath
More recent Metal (sorry, I don't want to use the word Nu as it is not appropriate): Wreath - Opeth |

AC/DC aren't metal either, but Black In Black is a fantastic song. Judas Priest's Electric Eye is excellent, and Iron Maiden's 2 Minutes To Midnight is another brilliant song. |

I missed this for some reason - Metallica are about as Hardcore as Opeth are Nu Metal! Faith No More aren't Hardcore either, but then again I don't think you could fit them into a genre if you tried! I love FNM though, you can hear their influences all over a lot of Nu Metal and Metalcore bands today...If we're talking classic Metallica tracks then I'd have to go for Creeping Death or Master of Puppets meself... both demand serious headbanging action! |

Guns N' Roses aren't metal. And Sweet Child O' Mine is very, very, very overrated. It has a really simple, annoying and repetitive riff. Didn't Axl Rose think of it in a few seconds, possibly as a joke? Judas Priest's Electric Eye is excellent, and Iron Maiden's 2 Minutes To Midnight is another brilliant song. |

Does it matter what they are (apart from in the context of this discussion - we are discussing metal songs)? Saying they are not metal is not insulting them, not in any way I can see.
*For the record I'm not a fan and if I had to pin a genre on them, I would probably say Hard Rock* |
