Do you eat porridge and if so, what sort/brand do you have and how do you cook it?

I have the traditional Scotts Porridge Oats. I put some porridge oats in a dish with milk and microwaive it for a minute at a time, stir it and carry on microwaiving until cooked. I always put sugar on mine.

Bought a box of Scotts Porridge Oats today £1.75p - 1kg. I have mostly had that brand but am interested in trying some of the cheaper brands.

Nowhere near as often as I should, but I've taken to eating it with a fairly liberal helping of chopped fresh ginger - nice way to get those blood vessels open and pumping and reduce cholesterol. I'm waiting to get the ineluctable Christmas/New Year rubbish-bingeing out of the way, and one of my NYR's will be to regularly have porridge for brekkie

PS - only organic or 'Finest' for me lol

Scott's or Quaker Oats for me. But I put 2/.3 of a cup with equal amounts of milk and water, and simmer for 6 minutes. Sprinkle of salt and add prunes and apricots or peaches. Milk. Keeps me going for longer than normal cereals. Lately I have also taken to adding a sprinkle of all bran in the pan. It dissolves. Not sure it is needed since there is plenty of fibre anyway, but I like a bit of variety.

5 "good" teaspoons is the perfect measurement for me for 1 portion of porridge. I also have a slice of toast and jam so I dont want too much porridge.

Supermarket own brand oats for me. Milk and a little water and microwaved for 2-3 mins. Stir in the sugar at the end.

Is ready brek porridge?

If so, yes. It's the kids but occasionally I'll dip in of an evening.

If ive had a long.run or burnt some calories, might even mix some jam in with it.

I do like a bowl of porridge - I generally use Sainsbury's organic porridge oats. For the two of us I use one cup of oats, one cup of milk, one cup of water, cooked on the stove. My husband likes his all horrid and runny, whilst I like mine cooked for so long that's it's almost one solid lump!

I generally have my porridge with a handful of frozen raspberries or cherries, plus a scant teaspoonful of brown sugar and some ground flax seed. Husband has greek yoghurt and honey with his.

Ok, I just measured out 5 good teaspoons of my Scottish Porridge oats into a bowl. I couldn't see them.

Couple of my colleagues have porridge every morning, those wee pots you just add hot water to. I have to leave the room because the smell makes me want to vomit.

I have to admit though, I've never tasted porridge just ready brek is it the about the same?

I have porridge a lot, or else homemade muesli using the same oats. Tesco's Basic, or whatever basic from whatever supermarket I happen to find myself in when I have run out.

I make it on the hob. If it takes 3 mins in the microwave, there's a faster way of doing it, as I boil a kettle, use that water, and maybe only boil it on the hob for 1 or 2 mins. Pinch salt, or none. No sugar. I like it with manuka honey or golden syrup.

I used to just chuck in the porridge and the milk and inevitably, the porridge was too thick for me. So I improvised and the 5 teaspoons (right heaped ones) are just right with the amount of milk I have.

I never touched you Flo Montoya (only joking).
