EastEnders awards 2012: RESULTS REVEALED
As 2012 draws to a close, I thought it'd be nice to reflect back on the year remembering the good, the bad and the ugly(they know who they are).
Award rules:
1. You can only vote once and must post on the thread to be included.
2. You don't have to vote in every category.
3. Only pick one person/story per category unless it states otherwise. Vote will be made void for that category.
I've given suggestions for each category. These are only a guide to help jog people's memories. Anything from Jan 1st(Pat's death) can be included. I'll also post some vids, these might help you make your decisions or remember the thing if you're like me and struggle to remember what happened yesterday.

8. Worst actor: David Witts (Joey) - David Witts is the worst by a country mile. The worst actor in EE history. Btw I consider Jamie Foreman (Derek) to be a good actor and Tony Discipline (Tyler) has improved loads!

29. Mark 2012 out of 10: 5 - Disappointing year. Lack of great characters being used like Denise and Patrick. The Kat affair storyline was awful. Joey is an awful character. No development of Tamwar's burns. The highlight was of course Pat, and she only appeared in one episode! Miss her!

I wanted to acknowledge Pat's passing, and the episode was very good.
Lola is a favourite of mine, and so is Cora, so of course I am going to like that ep, also, I think they did well bringing in the olympics and the live bit, with Billy's kids being there too.
Xmasday, because I had missed more than half of the episodes for a few months, but the run up to Christmas was so good and I really enjoyed it for the first time in ages.
Best newcomer: Phaldat (AJ)
Because he brought some fun back to the Masoods.
Best exit: Pat Evans
I think Derek is a close runner up, but Pat laying there, accepting this was it as opposed to Derek's anger and dropping dead tipped the scale in her favour, also because I liked Pat better, she left a bigger gap (figuratively, of course) and I preferred the sadness surrounding it, as opposed to the anger, confusion and guilt.
Best villian: Ben Mitchell
I hated Trish with a passion, but I feel the award should go to a regular. Ben was very layered, yet evil. His background is better known to us than those of Derek and Michael, making it more compelling and believable for me. I hate Ben, but get how on earth he turned out this way.
Worst actor: Tony Discipline
He has improved to the point where he no longer really bugs me, but still. Tamwar is no good either, but he is probably just not given the right storyline, they start something, then drop it right away. Derek is awfull, but that is not down to bad acting, but to being one dimensional. I don't mind Joey, really.
Worst actress: I refuse to vote, as I don't mind either of them. Mo hardly had any storylines, Alice only played the gullible daughter to a bully dad, Lucy just got here, allthough I much prefer the old one and Whitney is a fine actress, she pulled the abuse and prostitution off wonderfully, but she just runs around chasing Tyler, forgetting Lauren and minding the kids. She didn't do anything this year!
Worst exit: Anthony Moon
Because it involved Derek and a gambling addiction that was only mentioned once before. Afia is a close second, for not sticking with Tamwar when in reality, a girl like her would have at least tried a little harder to make it work. Not a fan of any of those exits though.
Best return: Sharon Rickman
It was a true soap-style return with a boom, and a follow up. All the other have either gone again already, so I would classify them as a guest appearance more than a return, and Poppy 1) only just got here and did nothing but be dumb, 2) left without leaving much of an impression and 3) for some reason showed back up to work in the salon and have an uncomplicated relationship. Not enough OOMPH!! to it, although I have nothing against her at all.
Most improved character: Lola Pearce
She was dreadfull starting off, but turned around real quick, I loved her from the eppie where she said she loved Billy and that love grew from the second she gave birth, she is currently my favourite, along with AJ and Zainab (and Fatboy, but for different reasons ;p) Cora is much, much better now as well, yet she did not have to come from a place as bad as Lola's, so Lol wins.
Most overused characer: Derek Branning
My goodness, the toad popped up out of nowhere, was shoehorned into every single storyline, even if he did not belong there, and he was so one dimensional. A waste of a character and a pollution of my screen! Rant over (sorry, I always react very strongly to Derek)
Most underused: Big Mo
I don't mean they should put her on screen more, I mean they should give her a storyline that does not merely involve dodgy dealing gone wrong. Something with, I don't know, emotions. Any emotions apart from greed.
Best Child Actor: Bobby Beale
Kamil is cute, but that is not acting. Morgan is also cute, but that is not acting either. that left Dennis and Bobby, I picked Bobby because of the Ian gone missing storyline, and how Lucy manipulated him when Mandy was there. He had more complicated things to play than Dennie, allthough Dennis Jr. is not bad at all, I have high hopes for him, should he stick around.
Best young actor: Danielle Harold (Lola)
She didn't even do stage school, or so I'm told! She made me cry with the birth and losing Lexi. Jacqueline Jossa is very good as well, but she did not get me all emotional, even though I have seen her kind of behaviour in close up too many times, and I find her portrayal of it very good, I also love the storyline and how the reaction of her surroundings are so true to real life (unfortunately), but it did not get me crying, so Lola comes out on top.
Best birth: Lola Pearce
The aftermath with Janine's baby was very well done, but the actual birth was better done with Lola.
Best wedding: Chryed
I did not particularly like either one, but wanted this pairing to have their happy ending. I did not entirely get my wish, but for EE standards, this is something you should settle for.
Sexiest actor: Ricky Norwood (Fatboy)
Sorry, did not take the suggestions, but I seriously want to marry his clone, if I can't have the real thing, that is! He is not 'textbook sexy' whatever that means, but far, far better than the suggestions. If I have to pick one of those, I'd vote for Jay, as I do not find Max atractive at all and Jack and Joey are too thirteen in a dozen, we get to see their exact copies by the hundreds through tv, magazines and what not. That leaves Jay, though he has nothing on Fatboy.
Sexiest actress: Jo Joyner
Lauren is played by a very, very attractive young lady, but when I get to Tanya's age, well, I would give most anyhting to look the way she does (I'm in my twenties, so I can say that, I am by no means implying she is old, she just looks older than me, as any mother of teens is supposed to ;P) Love Jo's figure, especially!
Funniest character: AJ Ahmed
Hands down, with Kim as a runner up, but we've seen that plenty of times now, AJ brings something new, and in his funniness, he communicates with other's and their response is equally funny. Kim just goes around being funny and does not take her surroundings with her while doing so. Fatboy is getting away from just being funny, thankfully, so no vote for him, Big Mo's humor is not my cup of tea, althoug I get why some may love it, and Poppy is just not funny at all. Please give her a proper storyline, not a comedy one!
Best couple: Jay and Abi
Ah, young love eh!! Zainab and Masood have been divorced, thorugh hell and back together, waiting to remarry, as are Max and Tanya. Janine and Michael are as toxic as a relationship gets, so for me, no question about it.
Best family; Brannings (except Derek, if that's okay, lol)
I am very fond of the Masoods and the Jackson/Butcher bunch, but the Brannings got their chance to shine this year, and they took it. also, there is so many of them, you are almost sure t like at least one, right ;P The Mitchells were horrible, apart from Lola/Billy and Jay, but he doesn't count, really. The Beales were ok, as always, and the Trueman/Foxes just did not have enough on their plate this year to show if they were still any good.
Best writer: I have not been following who wrote what at all, nor do I know what all the options are, or who the suggestions are/what they wrote. I could research, but am too lazy, so I'll skip this one and leave it to those who actually know what they are talking about
Character of the year: Cora Cross
Not sure what the suggestions are based on/what we are judging here, but Cora, as out of those suggested she made the most development and I loved her with Lola and am sure she is going to be great with the whole Ava thing, once it becomes ongoing, rather than peaks of emotions and people hiding, locking doors (either literally or figuratively) to hide that they are sad/confused/whatever.
Dramatic performance of the year: Ian Beale
The man convinced us that he was mentally ill, wanted to speak but was too scared of what may happen to him, or to Ben and was hurt by Lucy's reaction etc. all without saying a word. Cora did fantastic, and Phil stood out in the episode when Ben had just been taken away and he was holding his shirt, or whatever it was, but that was 1 episode,Jean just did what she always does, so Ian stood out over a longer period of time.
Worst storyline:
1) Syed cons and cheats
2) Bianca's money issues
3)Joey/Derek/Alice
Syed, because I wanted a happy ever after and this damaged the pairing. Bianca and the money as we have seen this higlighted over and over, it gets repetitive, even though those things do not go away in a few weeks, unfortunately, so kudos for not forgetting about it EE, and Joey/Derek/Alice, well, it had Derek in it, of course I am going to hate it with a passion!! It also went in circles for too long, thiss may be to show Alice will never learn and Derek will never change, but we got that by the third time already!!!!
Ray/Kim/Sasha was not done well, but it is a situation more and more families face, so it is good they tocuhed on it, hope to see more of the improved version of it soon with what is coming for Ray in the near future. Tyler and whitney are alright, as part of the Jackson clan, and I more or less skipped the shagger story, due to Derek being heavily featured and I do not watch to get high blood pressure, rather than entertainement. So I could not tell you if it was any good or not, the outcome was done well though. Joey and Lauren are just getting started, so I do not want to judge just yet.

Well, if anyone is happy to see Dere go, it would be me, so that scene was pure magic. Also, how they just stood by was just so cold, but you could just tell they did not know wether or not to believe him, due to the threats he just made. The guy could have been armed for all they knew! The Kirsty situation brings the lovely complicated story of no one being wrong, yet nobody being able to get what they want without wronging someone who was alos hurt by all of this. No good guys vs. bad guys, believable situation (somewhat) and at least 2 good actors, the woman playing Kirsty is no leightweight acting -wise either, it seems. High hopes for how it pans out!
And Pat and Janine, well, they needed to finsih their business, tie up loose ends, they got closure and so did the public. I am glad it happened.
Mark this year: 4/10 (most of it was not that good, and I am always on the lookout for something positive to say, am easy to please and find just about anything interesting, so this must mean they can only improve now).
Right, I wrote all of this (a lot of words, I know, I never shut up in real life either and talk very fast, so just be pleased you've got it in writing, to read at an acceptable pace, or skip, if you prefer, but in that case you won't have rad this bit either, so never mind) without reading the rest of the thread, as I did not want to be influenced. I am going to read it now, as I am curious what everyone thinks (as I always am, but this time it is put in a logical order, I assume, I love logic too!) Adam was just phenomenal as the luckless Café owner, Ian Beale. Not just in the breakdown storyline, but his scenes when Ben revealed his murderous secret. The only close competition for me personally, was Steve John Shepherd, who gave a chilling wonderful performance during his storyline with Jean.
Best Actress: Gillian Wright (Jean Slater)
Jean really came to the forefront of the show during June, and that was mostly down to Gillian's fantastic performance. The scene with her and Michael, where Jean flushed his St. Christopher Charm, was so enthralling to watch, it had me on the edge of my seat.
Best Storyline: 1) Michael cons Jean - The performances alone made this the best plot of 2012
2) The Murder of Heather Trott/Ben confesses - the whole story arc was clever done, which started when Amy almost drowned (Ben was calm in the aftermath, whereas Jay wanted to reveal all to Phil)
3) Ian's breakdown - Again, mainly for the performances. It could've been 2nd if it didn't cause Derek to appear more as he bullied Lucy.
Best Single Episode: 1) Janine and Michael's Wedding - I loved everything, minus the Branning inclusions.
2) Pat dies as Walford celebrates a New Year - One of the best episodes ever. I was an emotional wreck, especially after Janine and Pat's scene.
3) Shaggerman is revealed - The Drama was intense, and the Duff Duff scene was the best of the year. Picture Perfect!
Best Newcomer: Clare Perkins (Ava Hartman)
Even though she's only been in 5 episodes this year, she is far the best actress to arrive in 2012.
Best Exit: Pat Evans
I felt included in this scene, as I was VERY emotional. The moment where the Buthcer's/Jackson's/Wicks' realise Pat was gone broke my heart.
Best Villain: Michael Moon
Just for his evil manipulation of Jean. He is a very complex villain, unlike Derek Branning.

The Live Birth Scene was amazing. The 'Becoming Mum' storyline has really shone Danielle's talent.
