Ideas for green smoothies?
Biffo the Bear

I'm determined to get healthy in the New Year and was wondering if anyone had any recipes for nice healthy (and filling) green smoothies that I could have for breakfast and lunch?

It seems that kale, oats and bananas are the best 'base' ingredients, but what nice variations exist around them?

In my experience, throw 'em away and just eat low-fat cereal and skimmed milk or something. My dad makes things with juiced cabbage and they are revolting!

My favourite is spinach based and then I add things like soy milk, green tea, coconut water, peanut butter, Greek yogurt, almonds, banana, cinnamon, mixed berries, whole oats, honey etc etc. Not all at once mind you, usually three or four depending on my mood.

I prefer these sweet fruity ones as opposed to the savoury veggie ones.

Yea, it does sound pretty vile. Porridge with fresh berries and nuts it's much nicer.

Wheatgrass is supposed to be extremely healthy. It's also supposed to taste pretty vile.

Wouldn't you be better off eating the veg and the fruit ?

I reckon so...............I've only recently discovered broccoli and love it, but I made broccoli soup last week and didn't like it at all

It's much nicer to eat than it is to drink !

Whatever you do don't use broccoli, it's like drinking matchsticks.

Well, I've made my creation!

I went for kale, spinach, oats, orange juice, bananas and pineapple, and it's much nicer than I thought it would be, as kale & spinach are 60% of the ingredients.
