Clara sounded just like Donna
It really twigged for me during the scene when they were tossing the umbrella back and forth on the rooftop and went up the ladder to escape the ice governess. Not so much in the others. But this scene. It's not just the accent. Watch that scene again and listen to the cadence and delivery. Close your eyes, listen, and imagine Donna speaking instead of Clara. The only slight difference was the pitch, Donna's being a bit lower. Otherwise identical. There is absolutely no way this is a coincidence in my mind. JLC was channeling Noble.
So perhaps those putting forward theories that Clara is a composite of previous companions are on to something? The Rose & Crown was a bit of an anvil. And of course "eyes front solider" was Amy's line.

Don't see it myself. The accents are actually very different.

I don't see it either but an interesting comparison though.

What's so surprising about that? I imagine that would be the reaction of many people on encountering something like the TARDIS. The new bit was the "It's smaller on the outside" remark.

It's funny quite a few people are saying that Clara is already their favourite companion since Donna, too. I hadn't really noticed a similarity in the way they speak, but I suppose it's there if you look for it - something about the speed of the delivery and a 'you can't pull the wool over my eyes' attitude. I'm liking Clara very much so far.

I do hope she doesn't use the awful cockney accent in the series.
Donna had a horrible annoying voice. |

Same here I didn't like Donna either. Can't understand the love for her on this forum. She always sounds like her naughty nan character to me.

This is the 50th anniversary year ... is each incarnation of Clara going to provide him with subtle reminders of some of the his companions?
The fall could have been a reminder of the exit of Astrid Peth. Astrid also stepped up, grabbed and kissed the Doctor (David Tennant). |

Fair enough!
