Battlefield 3?
I really like the COD games, and have recently bought Battlefield 3 only to slightly regret it.
Not tried it yet, but apparently it's hard! I'm an average player at COD, but B3 seems a little too complex and MP games appear to take ages. Shall I just get rid rather than get into it? Wanting to swap for Far Cry 3! |

NO give it a try first, I got this after the mess that was MW3 I just got so annoyed with the CoD franchise, this was like a breath of fresh air. It is tough and if you play like you would CoD you will just get totally f***ed over and wont get anything from it. Give it a chance its a fantastic game especially with a good group of players. Some games can take a while depends what mode you play yet some games I've played can be as little as 5 mins this also depends on the server settings (another bonus, dedicated servers).

I find Call of Duty rubbish personally so it could just be that this game isn't for you

I never got annoyed with COD really, so maybe we have different opinions. Trust me, I'm not brilliant at COD, I would say I'm only average so I should think B3 will be a little hard for me. |

Battlefield 3 is far better than any COD, you play against proper players and not some 12 year old, it requires more skill.
Also COD is just full of sniper noobs. |

Try BF3, totally different game to COD in what it offers. The games that last an hour tend to be the custom games when the server owner changes the settings to suit. As others have said, it's got a learning curve but what game hasn't. It's about planning, getting a good squad and playing it together. Just approach it differently to COD, treat it as you would if you were really running through the streets trying to kill but avoiding getting shot.

This thread hurts my brain. You bought the game, only to ask us about it rather than try it yourself, and then you finally watch a youtube clip, and decide, "f**k it, i'm not playing it?"

The way it seems to be these days:
COD if you're a school kid, simpleton gameplay. BF if you're an old teen or adult, needs you to use your head more than COD. Then if you get into PC gaming and like the teamplay side of things that BF3 has, then Planetside 2 walks all over BF3 in almost every aspect. Im really surprised there's still anyone playing BF3 on the PC. |

Not really a big fan of the BF series myself, I get why others are but its just not for me.
For all the faults in COD its still a game franchise I have a ton of fun playing online & is pretty much the only game I play online fairly regularly. I get how you need to play BF3, Slower paced with more team work & I was able to slow my pace down & work with the rest of the team & ended up doing fairly well. However while doing all that I simply wasn't having a great deal of fun. I had more fun with the close quarters dlc maps but since there was only about 3 maps which was a shame. Black Ops 2 does have too many quick scoping snipers, In the older games however its a non-issue, Besides I experienced just as many (If not more) snipers in BF3. I think the issue for me above all else was that I don't really play online all that often & when I do its usually in short bursts. With COD if I have half hour to spare I can jump in & have a dozen fun games, Can't really always do the same with BF3 as games tend to last quite a bit longer. Im not saying that BF3 is a bad game as it isn't, I personally didn't have much fun playing it. |

In reply to your first post I was going to say stick with it, learn a couple of maps and stick with your squad mates and once you've ranked up a little and unlocked a few things you'll start to enjoy it.
However, it seems like you've already convinced yourself out of it so it makes no difference now! |

battlefiled 3 is pretty much the only game i play but i only really play 1 map, siene crossing(excellent map). ive clocked over 300hrs on the game and find the high ticket servers the best if the teams are balanced.
i find cod very basic, its just a run and gun game, cool if u like that but the depth that battlefield has is unreal |

I bought my kids BF3 for their xmas, along with MW3. But they will play MW3 more often as they have friends who play it, and it is more of thrill to kill your mates than someone you dont know. BF3 is a lot harder for them to get into, but I only paid 98p for it in Morrisons, so I'm not too worried if they dont bother with it.
