I didn’t get the chance to see Matt from the 2nd day of gymnastics so missed him for 4 days on CG. Now I am catching up slowly this week cos have a week off. Matt’s so witty, can talk through appropriately whatever up on the screen with great enthusiasm…the debate between the commentators were interesting yet hilarious!

On the 20th of July it was a Countryfile special for John Craven’s 25th anniversary on the show. This involved him reminiscing about his time on the show and getting the presenters to do things that matched the subjects discussed. In Matt’s case this was a piece about travel - and specifically he got to stay pretty local for a feature on Aston Martin and the origin of their name (Aston Hill in Buckinghamshire). Matt also presented the link for the calendar competition from his own garden

On the 21st of July it was the first outdoor One Show from the Quay in Glasgow as part of the warm up to the Commonwealth Games. The guest was Nicola Benedetti - a violinist who was going to play at the opening ceremony.

Matt was wearing a grey jacket, white shirt, and black trousers. There were a fair few Bakerettes there to see this in person

It was a rare opportunity once or twice a year that Matt (or Ellie) would get the chance to film a clip or two in their own gardens comparing to what Adam has had to. John did a good editorial job for the team. He would get my vote on his 30th!

I remember I mentioned that where were his chickens in response to your CF Mother’s Day special picspam cos’ I didn’t see him saying anything about them since he bought. And later in CF Spring Special episode he started saying he hadn’t seen his chickens for a week when he was about to see the baby crane. Now he showed us his chicken! Also I noticed that there was a horse in its raincoat behind Matt in the garden. I don’t think it’s a donkey or Beano the Shetland pony. And there was a horse in the beginning of It Takes Two - strictly cribs VT. He never mentioned about it though he said to Vernon Howard in the interview that little Molly (desperately) wanted to bring in Beano to the south and he is getting old so won’t be soon enough.

Nicola Benedetti was an interesting guest. Grey jacket is nice but I really like his white shirt. I mentioned it above and thanks to the Bakerettes, good to see Matt in that white shirt w/o the grey jacket on.

I was aiming to watch Edinburgh Military Tattoo so tuning in CF and saw a glimpse of Matt and young farmers. He filmed that episode the day before he headed to France to commentate on Gymnastics European Championship 2012. I still rememberl.”

He was coughing, sounds a bit throaty/chesty. It’s been a while now, coughing and sounded throaty on and off since the Cotswolds Show. Soooo good to see him though... Hope he feels better tomorrow.

It’s the last episode of The One Show before the summer break for the Commonwealth Games and was the run up to the opening ceremony presented live from Celtic Park. The guests were Amy MacDonald and Barry McGuigan. There were interviews with Alex Salmond and David Cameron too (and strangely enough they didn’t let Matt do that interview

Screencaps of Matt from tonight the OS, surprisingly he ditched the jumper! Looking really good. Think he feels better which is a good sign despite his voice still a bit sort of husky… maybe he should go foraging and eat that English mustard again.
