Hello - I managed to catch up last week SCD first live show 1+ 2 and some of ITTs last night. I do like Aliona dress; Darcey’s dress was nice too.
Claudia seemed a bit self-conscious in her pink dress but I thought it looked fine on her even she seems more comfortable in not glamourous outfits. It would be better if she overcomes her self-consciousness whatever colour she wears considering that she is one of the women like everyone else.
It looks like apart from Judy there is no clear novice and there are quite a few ringers so I guess they won’t be singled out as harshly as the like of Denise and Natalie. Scott maybe seen as one of the weaker celeb dancers but I saw he can do some hip-hop/street dance/rock-n-roll/disco moves reasonably well so unlike Judy he can be trained to be a fairly good dancer. As a DJ he could listen to the music and feel the rhythms but of course whether as to your feet and body are able to move as the way you feel is another thing as fitness and stamina make all differences in this respect.
Gregg looked nervous and a bit panic to keep up with Aliona’s timing in solo sections though their Cha Cha was better than I expected. It’s a Cha Cha Cha routine and I’d say if it was Matt, he would perform solo sections absolutely flawlessly. Gregg did surprisingly well in Charleston training on ITT. That suggested how they work hard during this week. If he can nail it they should go through next round. Good to see Aliona’s did not create the comical dance routines; giving her pupils the opportunities to learn to dance up to their potentials at least. Partners’ trousers split was no new to Aliona as both Rev and Matt have had it in their training but the splits were around thigh areas and they had their underwear on so their modesties were still protected. Fair enough Gregg’s wardrobe malfunction, no underwear on but him saying to Aliona in a VT on ITT that he never wore underwear since he was 17 was like choreographed for some reason. IMHO, it’s unnecessary to show in a VT that a man’s talking like that to a decent woman on telly in a family show. Poor girl and the viewers do not need to know that!
I don’t have any favourites but I like Caroline and Pasha. I think her top lines, arms and hand-placements could be as beautiful as those of Kara, Natalie and Abby if Pasha can polish her little flaws. She needs to have control her moves though and Pasha needs not to choreograph the routines that she would struggle.
As time pass by I try not to miss Matt on strictly now but Pasha did make me thought of Matt. I think it’s because of their style of dance quite similar. It’s been four years now since Matt pleasantly surprised us on the first live show in 2010. Wandering around
