The 5th of October on Countryfile was a Harvest special and Matt was on a farm in Lincolnshire to help out. It was a good episode for Matt content - 3 clips (harvesting by tractor, vegetable production line, and looking at new varieties of vegetable) and pretty much all of the voiceover work too.

Matt and team rickshaw at Blackpool on tonight’s the OS. Spotted some familiar faces supporting them…Matt’s very emphatic… I have checked viewranger’s team rickshaw route. They are definitely cycling through where I am on Day 5 Nottingham to Alton Tower but it was the day I will be stuck in E & D training session from 1-4pm at work. I think they will arrive in the mid-day so when I finish they might have gone. Typical! So near so far!

Hello - The stories behind CF World War One Special sound quite moving. It has extra 10 minutes slot so likely to see those stories a bit more in depth which would be great but why a photo of Adam and a dog is required on BBC 1 program schedule for this special edition? Looks like the website moderator feels that Adam needs to get promoted specially and found this is an opportunity. If this entire episode is all about Adam and his farm, I won’t bother waste my time and mention about it. I see the others programs such as SCD and F1 have the photos of their presenters whereas photo of CF team has been removed as if there is no contribution from the rest of the team!

I am a bit curious about this story Matt’s going to cover on tonight CF.
Matt Baker is in Oppy, walking in the footsteps of his great-grandfather Tommy. With two mules by his side, just like Tommy had, he is introduced to the story of the Hull Pals by author David Bilton. Matt and David get exclusive access to Oppy Wood, the site of a terrible battle in which many of the Hull Pals lost their lives. Matt and David discover a battle scarred landscape and Matt is able to pay his respects to the fallen at the Hull Pals memorial located at the edge of the wood.

Weather is getting better today. Yesterday was terrible! Hope team rickshaw are coping well and raise load of funds for CiN. I’ve been following them on Pudsey Viewranger which is great to view not just to follow the route but they make Team Rickshaw’s tweets and retweets available with photos. Very useful! There are lot of great photos and I particularly like Matt (in the trolley) and Bruce most. And also like Matt, Bruce and John because of Matt’s usual cheesy grin.

This year it doesn't seem to have good quality photoshoots for CIN, or have they but Matt and Alex look fabulous in the profile pic of TR:

I enjoy listening to Matt’s radio interviews about rickshaw challenge. He’s so positive, infectiously enthusiastic. Matt said on Friday night that they will be at the Nottingham ice-skating centre where Chris & Jane are going to join them tomorrow night…really looking forward to see it though I do not expect to see Matt on ice.

Matt on tonight's Countryfile - Remembers the Great War…very poignant, very moving stories covered in this special episode…adding Matt’s voiceover I was deeply touched. Matt, Ellie and Tom have personal connections. The story about 24000 soldiers dug a secret tunnel by hands in 6 months was unbelievable! It has had own chapel, hospital and rail network! Matt was a bit emotional when he said he’s very proud of his great granddad Tommy Baker. And the BBC announcer said Matt and team rickshaw has been paddling for CiN at the moment…

Emma - I think you're rather confused about how those pics appear in the TV guide. That's just the main image from the episode page for the show and it's automatically put there. There aren't any "moderators" on the BBC site.

The Countryfile team do a good job of swapping which presenter appears in the main image - and often (as was the case with this episode) the main image can be of a presenter who is actually in the show less. You should probably have read the episode page for the show before making a mistaken conclusion because as you've now seen Matt was the most prominent presenter on the show and that was clear from the actual guide page.

It’s the 6th of October on The One Show and the guest was the violinist Nicola Benedetti who was on to promote “Ten Pieces” which was a great BBC initiative to get children interested in classical music

I knew that KK. I knew that the profile photos of the programs are linked to daily TV guide by default setting. If the usual profile photo of a program was replaced with a new one, the new one would have appeared on the schedules as well as on iplayer by default. When CF website needed to get updated, somebody had to do the job. That person would be a professional who has the accessibility to log in, maintain the Site Manager, and update it accordingly. When it was updated for the special program last time, the main profile team photo was replaced with that of Adam; I mean URL just being edited, a very simple work that can be done in a second. I wasn’t seeking for a solution to who is the most prominent figure. I just mentioned my point of view - CF is not about the work of Adam, not about that of Matt or of any other individual presenters either. It’s a team work. Team’s contributions should be acknowledged in the sensible and reliable ways.

It's hard to keep up on twitter during the day as there are so many people taking photos. I really hope they get another good total as it looks like a tough one this year (yesterday they were pedalling between 5:30am and 9:20pm!)

On to the 7th of October on The One Show where the guests were the finalists of Great British Bake Off and Professor Brian Cox (promoting the Human Universe). A rather odd combination really! It did include the bakers attempting to make cakes in a microwave which Matt described as smelling “a bit like a gym bag”

Never knew Flash is the UK highest village, 1518 feet above sea level and John was paddling in the rain! Watching the OS, following rickshaw on viewranger, I leant a lot about the length and the breadth of the UK. Thanks to them! An inspirational speech from Matthew and what a moving story of John and his donor and 1 minute silence at the Derby Cathedral for Remembrance Day. Also lovely Carolina was supporting Jess…Matthew had the roller coaster ride for 4 times and Matt said he had twice and they are going to have a go again!


This morning around 8.00 am I was where they stopped over but they were there at 10.30am! When I finished training at 4 I checked them on viewranger. They were so close to Alton Towers. If not engaged for training I would have been there to support them all. Missed opportunity!

Matt’s very kind and caring and always empathic…as a parent he totally understand how their families have gone through. He’s really deeply touched by the stories of those kids. Fantastic total so far… Matt said they are going to cycle 80 miles so his alarm is set up at 1.30am! Alex said she’s going see him tomorrow!


I just noticed that they had changed their route yesterday. I saw old and new routes on viewranger. I think the stopover at the Derby Cathedral wasn’t their original plan but it was the Remembrance Day and they arrived there the time a minute silence had to be taken place across the UK. No second opportunity!

It’s the 8th of October on The One Show and Gabby Logan was standing in for Alex. The guests were Donny Osmond (marginally less annoying than on Strictly), Alexander Armstrong and Richard Osman.

Mel was a great guest presenter and a lovely guests with Dave and Gillian

There was a glimpse of a banner at the morning wave off to team rickshaw. Lovely matt getting all upset about team rickshaw and how brave they are.

It’s the 9th of October now on The One Show and the guest was Twiggy. She was on to promote the 100th episode of “Who do you think you are” and the production team of the show were also there to talk about it
