I managed to catch up strictly grand finale; eventually before back to work tomorrow. Nice to see a little glimpse of Matt even though I disagree with what he said – the perfect example.

Did anyone notice recycling of Matt’s foxtrot outfits? I mean even not it wasn’t that of Matt, the styling and the fabric have been recycled for Simon. Here is the footage of Matt in that outfits:

Charlie and Suzanna interview Matt and Aliona on BBC Breakfast the following day.
I was a bit surprised to see Caroline and Pasha won. My initial prediction was Frankie as the definite series winner even the series not started yet. I was wrong but who won who lost didn’t bother me at all. All 3 finalists had the equal chances, if not won the series they would won a couple of shows on the live tour anyway.
In my view four couples in the finale is just overcrowded. It gives the weakest pair a chance to dance again in the final but on the other hands it leaves the finalists less challenging. You don’t get to see the couples tackling 2 new dance routines plus an old latin and a ballroom within a week. I can ignore awarding 10s in the final night. The 10s doesn’t mean they danced any better than the couples who were not being awarded the deserving 40s. I did enjoyed watching some the dances of this series though; such as Pixie’s waltz, QS, paso and VW plus the attitude turn in her foxtrot and the leg-turn in her Cha Cha. I liked some of Caroline, Frankie and Simon dances but they all don’t have equal strengths in ballroom and latin.
And I see Caroline and Pasha’s showdance was the reinvention of their rumba with the flavour of contemporary. Their final ballet lift was what Matt and Aliona did in their AS.
Caroline was elegance and graceful in the lifts and the judges were pleased with the whole thing but when Matt and Aliona set a new trend of contemporary in their waltz based AS the judges were too upset. They were inconsolable whereas the whole audiences in the studio and the viewers at home just gone wow. The footwork of Matt spinning Aliona was exactly that of Pasha spinning Caroline in their rumba but they criticized Matt and under-marked. It was not just I think that their AS was under-marked, even very honest Erin mentioned on ITT that Matt didn’t do anything wrong and got 8s and Scott got wrong a lot got 9s so she didn’t get it. What an unbiased pro she is. I'd like to see her in the judges panel who would give constructive citizens without being distracted by the shirtless male celebs.

This is one of my favourite interviews of Matt and Aliona and you can see how natural they are together and what a great mix they are.
Both of them not glammed up but still looking hot and coming across as great fun to be with. Good interviewer too.

Hi fatskia
I agree with you again.

The genuine strong partnership ever right from the beginning to the end sharing great chemistry…It was a surprise to know that they said they have already discussed what they would have done for their first dance just after they were being paired up. That quick! They have had very tough year though they gone strengths to strengths.
Thanks for bringing back Matt and Aliona’s wonderful memories. I quite enjoyed watching their interview again. Wasn’t Aliona very cheeky telling Matt to answer DS’s tricky questions? Matt gave wise and honest answers though. Another special clip of Matt and Aliona was their Strictly in Steps. He was torn between 2 options of the first question and he wanted to get it right. Just love watching Matt and Aliona’s facial expressions in that clip.
You must be delighted to see Aliona on strictly Christmas special. I haven’t watched it yet; saved it for this weekend treat.
By the way, did you know Matt was invited to come back on strictly Christmas special and he had to turn the offer down due to coincide with Children in Need rickshaw challenge weeks?
Here,
the abstracts from the Express news article:
BACK IN 2010 Matt Baker wowed with his skills on the dance floor and the star revealed he had to turn down Strictly bosses this year in favour of a charity challenge.
The One Show host, along with his co-star Alex Jones, have both tangoed around the dance floor for Strictly but Matt was asked to come back this year for the Christmas special.
But ever the gentleman, Matt turned down producers' requests in favour of the Children in Need Rickshaw Challenge.
Speaking exclusively to the Daily Express Online, Matt said: "I did Strictly and they asked me to do the Christmas Special this year and I just haven't had time, I can't do it this year.
"It's really is a shame. It's very frustrating but they very kindly invited me to do it but I've had to turn them down."
He added: "Who would my money be on? I'll go with Louis [Smith] because he's a mate."

The abstracts from DM online:
Matt revealed he was asked to return for the Strictly Christmas special this year, but sadly had to pass on the opportunity.
‘They asked me if I’d come back for the Christmas special and I had to turn it down because it’s all happening at the same time as Children In Need. It’s a real shame, I was thoroughly disappointed not to be able to do it, but this is main focus,' he said.

I would love, love, love to see Matt and Aliona dancing together again but I think he did the wise decision as over £2.7m funds has been raised for Children in Need which is remarkable.
