Again we were fortunate enough to have another great OS yesterday, Gabby let everyone speak this time and Sue P was a delightful guest and joined in the randomness that is The One Show Those teacakes looked fine on the outside but Sue's face when she bit into one and found it disgusting was an absolute picture! And how lovely to hear Mike D's news....becoming the proud father of a bouncing baby boy! He looked 'over the moon' and it brought a lot happiness to the programme Think we've all become very fond of Mr D over the last couple of years and he's now part of the furniture of the show, in fact it would be better if he replaced the evil sofa

Yes, Sue Perkins was great fun last night, and Gabby I thought better than usual - less intrusive. As for the cakes, I wish they'd drop these silly games/challenges altogether. There's hardly enough time for the guest to talk as it is, and who knows we might even have had a dance last night if there had been more time (though somehow I doubt it

).

Mike Dilger hasn't started to grow on me yet I'm afraid. Maybe I need a couple more years

I'm happy for him that he's happy about the new baby though. Thought the One Show babygrow was very sweet.

Looks like Matt and Julia have been busy with a photoshoot for something today - would appear to be Countryfile related based on the picture

I quite like this shirt - not the least for the unbuttonage

On my screen it comes up a sort of wine colour rather than rusty. Can't remember what the TV gave me.

Evening all

A happy bouncy matt tonight, full of beans, looking fab in his shirt with good unbuttonage.

Kirstie and david were good guest, kirstie is always chatty and once david got going he was joining in, seemed very interested with the hand transplant. a good show tonight

Lovely matt, what a cute little lamb, a lucky lamb held by a very lovely lad

Matt wasn't on Countryfile on the 3rd of February so it's straight on to the next week's One Shows for picspamming. It's the 4th of February with guest Anthony Head. And we opened with Matt on a bed - sadly fully dressed

Morning. I enjoyed last night's show. First of all Matt looked very nice indeed, and he seemed to be particularly bubbly and just a tad impish. Zoe was good, quieter than she often is. She's very relaxed and she and Matt seem to have a great rapport.

Anyone know who's on tonight as guest co-host and guest? Either they didn't mention it, I wasn't listening, or I've forgotten. No idea which.

SG, how are the teeth?

Zoe is guest host again (Matt and Zoe said at the end of the show). Can't remember who the guest is.

The show got decent ratings for a Wednesday show 3.941m which made it the 6th most watched show of the day

I'm guessing if they mentioned it then it didn't make much of an impression on us

That is quite a good rating. Certainly doing a lot better than it usually did in it's Friday slot.

Just watching the OS again, it's always better the second time around.

Ta for asking after my teeth Rita! I seem to be faced with a 4th appointment and an ever-increasing bill. OH may have to delay retirement

Root canal work, x-rays and fillings amount to an awful lot of money.....it's not good

Hope all your dental work is going better than mine!

This is not a bad look. I like the shirts that have lots of space between buttons because Matt always seems to undo two, whatever the shirt. I wonder if he realises?

I've got as far as making an appointment for a consultation with the dental surgeon, which is mid-March. I'm hoping he can just remove the offending tooth and not the wisdom tooth underneath. It's not doing anybody any harm after all

I'm starting to wonder why Alex is standing in for someone on radio this week instead of doing her regular job. Has she asked for a change do you think? I wonder if she's getting a little fed up with The One Show? I know both her and Matt are occasionally absent to do something else, but that's usually a one-off special event. This seems to be a regular show where she's standing in for someone and it seems a little odd to shift someone from one regular show to stand in for someone on another regular show. Wouldn't it have made more sense to ask Gabby and Zoe to do the radio thing?

Am I overthinking things again?

Starting with the previous post

. The container of potatoes was because they had just had a VT about a woman who caught a 64lb fish. That was the same weight in potatoes to see if Alex could lift it.

Regarding the radio show. Both Gabby and Zoe are married with kids and I don't know where Gabby lives but Zoe is Brighton based. So a 2am-5am show isn't something either of them could stand in for easily... Alex is single, no kids, and lives in central London so it's easy for her to get to.

Alex is heading up for 3 years on The One Show now so it wouldn't surprise me if by the end of this years contract she did want to move on to other stuff. By next February Matt could be feeling that too though the show does seem to be designed around him more nowadays (the VTs are getting very Countryfile sometimes and he does seem to have more script influence...).

Evening all

The sun came out to play today. Hurray. Hope everyone ok.

A good tos tonight, Delia was a good guest nice and chatty joining in with the fun game delia or no delia,

there was food in the studio, wonder if matt got his hands on any of the gingerbread men or zoe has taken them all home.
She had been a very good stand in, she fidgets almost as much as matt does

They get on very well together having lots of laughs.

Matt looked lovely, in his dark blue shirt with the top button undone, with a couple of Wow's a happy bouncy matt.

He'll be bodding of for cf, will the weather stay dry and he will go without his waterproofs.

It's a Red Nose Day special on The One Show on the 5th of February with guest Richard Curtis. We had a guest clip from Prince Charles (and I guessed this was to do with Countryfile based on wardrobe…), and lots of clips from past Comic Relief. This was the show where spacehoppering to work was mentioned - something I'm sure won't be happening for the full distance for Matt (given the commuting distance) but they may have a bit of a go

Much too tired to pop on here last night but it gave me a chance to look at your latest picspam KK. What a jolly time Matt, Alex and Richard were having on the OS RedNose special edition.

Lovely OS last night, Zoe and Matt work well together. Zoe has a natural warmth which translates well on the screen. As they know each other well, I wonder if the Bakers and the Cooks ever get together and bop along to Funk Soul Brother (Zoe's hubby's funky song

) By the way, I wonder how Delia felt being called 'raucous'...oh dear, not the best introduction

) She is obviously exploring new areas and broadening her CV and Matt (we hope!) will continue on the OS for some time to come as he has a young family to support. As we know it's a highly competitive, cut-throat world of presenters/hosts and you have to keep to the forefront. It seems to me that there are an awful lot of people swimming around the presenting/hosting pool. Only the best get hauled out!

Off to experience a happy shopping experience in S**nsbury's

and then off to see my mum......never a dull moment!

I've been out most of the day. Seems like a very long time since the temperature went above zero here. No sign of Spring at all yet

Pretty good rating as you say kk. From reading posts on other forums The One Show seems to be regular viewing for a lot of people - and a favourite of some others apart from us

The only times I've seen Zoe other than The One Show was on SCD where I didn't take to her that much, and ITT where she drove me crazy and drove me away with her bubbliness. I think she's been really good this week though. She and Matt do seem to get on very well, and the whole atmosphere of the show has been warm and comfortable. Is she on tonight? I might watch to see how it goes with CE.

Alex is back tonight with Chris, but I think Zoe has worked with him before. I think Matt and Zoe probably have had some professional contact before as they're both BBC veterans and they do seem to get on well. Zoe is someone I've always thought Matt would work well with as they seem to have a similar sense of humour.
